Braden Langille made the move to the Legends Pro division a successful one as he drove to victory lane on Thursday during INEX Winter Nationals.
Langille, who is a former INEX Winter Nationals Bandolero Outlaw champion at Orlando Speedworld, started on the pole after the inversion draw in the second of two Pro division races on the afternoon. Langille pulled away from the tight field late, winning the caution free 25-lap feature over Jolicure, New Brunswick’s Cory Hall.
All Legends divisions ran two features on Thursday. Langille failed to finish the first feature event in Pro while Hall came home in third. Hall will lead the Pro division points heading into the final day of racing. The first race for the Pro division on Thursday was won by William Plemons III.
Calgary, Alberta’s Ira Laughy returned to INEX Winter Nationals victory lane for the first time since he won the Masters division title at the event in 2016 at Orlando Speedworld. Laughy won the second of two features for the “Crazy Old Men” over Wednesday winner Shaun Buffington and “The Dragon” Carl Cormier. Laughy was fourth in the first feature of the afternoon to Tim Brockhouse. Brockhouse, the defending INEX Winter Nationals Masters division champion, was 23rd in the second Masters feature of the afternoon and fell to fourth in the standings with one race to go.
Paul Goulden came home with two ninth place finishes on Thursday. The Scotia Speedworld champion will enter the final day of competition with the eighth place point position.
It was a rough afternoon for the three Atlantic Canadians competing in the Legends Semi Pro division at INEX Winter Nationals. Michael Cormier led the way after finishing 19th in the second A Main on the afternoon after failing to transfer into the first A Main after crash damage sidelined the No. 68. Michael Neary continues to improve race by race, transferring to both A Mains on Thursday with a 27th and 20th place finish. Waylon Farrell was scored with a pair of 26th place finishes on the afternoon. The races were won by Vince Midas and Connor Mosack. For Mosack, it was his first career Legends victory.
Owen Mahar came home fifth in the Bandolero Bandits feature and will enter the final day of racing in sixth in the standings. Zach Miracle won the race, ending the win streak of Landon Rapp at three.
Danny Chisholm will lead the Bandolero Outlaw points into their final two races of the week on Friday after a third place finish on Thursday afternoon. Owen Groves scored his first top ten finish of the week with a seventh place finish while Sam Rogers (20th) and Sara Thorne (24th) did not finish due to separate accidents. Ethan Norfleet scored his second win of the week in the Bandolero Outlaw feature.
Rogers made his Legend car debut in the Young Lions division. The Lower Onslow, Nova Scotia driver was credited with 27th and 13th in the two feature events. Holt Halder and Jak Crawford were winners in the division.
Layton Harrison was the fourth different winner in as many features in the Beginner Bandit Bandolero class. Whitney Meggs leads Conner Weddell by three points heading into the final day of racing on Friday.
