Rogers, Hall Take Day Two Wins at INEX Winter Nationals
It’s been a long time coming for Lower Onslow, Nova Scotia’s Sam Rogers.
Rogers, in his third INEX Winter Nationals, won the second Bandolero Outlaw feature of Day Two of INEX Winter Nationals at Citrus County Speedway. Rogers had to hold off North Carolina’s Jaydn Daniels on a final restart with two laps to go to collect the victory. Canning, Nova Scotia’s Danny Chisholm ran second for most of the feature before coming home in third place.
Rogers led the way for the Atlantic Canadian contingent in the first Outlaw feature, Chisholm was eighth and Owen Groves was 16th before finishing 11th in the second feature.
Sara Thorne of Chance Cove, Newfoundland got caught up in a wreck during the first Bandolero Outlaw feature of the day. Thorne was okay but the car could not be repaired in time for the second feature and did not start.
Cory Hall of Jolicure, New Brunswick was the winner of the second Pro division race for Legend cars on the Valentines Day afternoon. Hall out dueled Connecticut’s Noah Korner for the win in the second feature after finishing second to New Jersey’s Alex McCollum in the opening feature for the division.
Braden Langille made the move to the Pro division for Round Two after running Semi Pro on Night One. Langille was third in his first race with the division. The second 25-lap feature went caution free and was run in just over six minutes.
For Hall, it was his first win in the Pro division at INEX Winter Nationals and fifth Legend win at Citrus County Speedway after four wins and a Semi Pro event championship in 2017.
Shaun Buffington ended a six race win streak of Tim Brockhouse in the Masters Legend division on Wednesday. Buffington, of Connecticut, passed Brockhouse to win the feature and a $200 bounty that was put up by Little Gator Legend Cars. Brockhouse would finish second with polesitter Ira Laughy in third.
Laughy, of Calgary, Alberta, led the Canadian contingent in the Masters division during Round Two. Scotia Speedworld champion Paul Goulden of Shelburne, Nova Scotia recorded a second consecutive top ten with a tenth place finish in the 25-lap feature after winning a B Main for a second consecutive round. Kevin Foisy was 11th after having to work through a B Main, Craig Bruce was 19th and Jeff Drimmie was 20th.
Harrison Halder won a Georgia battle up front in a caution free Semi Pro feature. Halder edged out Drew Dollar for the win while Tennessee’s Hunter Wright was third. Waylon Farrell was 17th in the A Main after finishing third in his B Main. Michael Neary made a choose restart in his B Main work to finish sixth in his qualifier to transfer into the A Main where he finished 27th. Michael Cormier did not compete in his B Main and did not transfer to the final.
North Carolina’s Landon Rapp won both ends of a Bandolero Bandit double header on Wednesday. Hubley Owen Mahar finished seventh and third in the two races.
Jak Crawford won the Young Lions Legend feature over Daniel Silvestri and Derek Debbis. It was Crawford’s second feature win at Citrus County Speedway in as many races.
Whitney Meggs and Conner Weddell each took home a Beginner Bandolero feature on Wednesday. Meggs and Weddell joined Mason Maggio as winners in the three Beginner races on the week.
