Hall Wins INEX Winter Nationals Pro Championship, Langille and Rogers Among Winners on Friday

For a second straight year, Cory Hall is leaving Florida in February with a championship trophy from INEX Winter Nationals.

Hall, from Jolicure, New Brunswick, captured the five race Legend Pro championship at Citrus County Speedway, one year after winning the title in the Semi-Pro championship at the Inverness, Florida oval.

“This is huge,” said Hall after winning the championship. “A lot of preparation went into coming here. We qualified on the pole every day, we ran well. We stayed consistent, made smart decisions and here we are.”

In the final Pro race of the week, Hall would lock down the title with a second place finish to Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia’s Braden Langille. Langille, who will move to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour to compete for the Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, won his second straight race to close off the week after moving to the Pro division following the first race of the week on Monday night. Langille made the winning pass on Hall in the final race on Lap 17 of the 25-lap caution free feature after Hall took the lead from Alec Webb on Lap Nine.

Sam Rogers of Lower Onslow, Nova Scotia was credited with his second win of the week in a wild finish to the final Bandolero Outlaw race of INEX Winter Nationals. The final lap saw Trevor Wester go for a wild ride down the back straight as a half dozen cars scrambled for the lead on the final restart of the race.

Rogers would finish third overall in points while Canning, Nova Scotia’s Danny Chisholm finished second in the standings to Justin Gareis after a second place finish in the second race of the afternoon. Hearts Delight, Newfoundland’s Owen Groves came home 12th in the standings after five races while Sara Thorne, who was okay after an incident that saw her Bandolero land on it’s side in the final race, was 24th for the week at INEX Winter Nationals.

Ethan Norfleet won the first Outlaw race of the afternoon, making it three wins in an impressive week for the No. 56 team from Kentucky.

Owen Mahar finished fourth in the final Bandits feature of the week. Landon Rapp completed his championship run in the Bandolero class with his fourth win in five races.

Waylon Farrell was 23rd for the week in the standings in the INEX Winter Nationals Semi-Pro division. Michael Cormier came home 25th in his first INEX Winter Nationals in a Legend car after moving from a Bandolero. Michael Neary, who made his Legend car debut on the week, improved each day and wound up 28th in the standings that featured 38 cars compete in at least one race on the week.

Harrison Halder won the final feature of the week in the division and took home the championship.

Connecticut’s Shaun Buffington took home the Legends Masters championship in his first year of eligibility for the 40+ age group. Buffington won the final feature of the week after holding off Robby Faggart and James Edsall. Calgary, Alberta’s Ira Laughy led the Canadian contingent for the week with a second place point run. Paul Goulden of Shelburne, Nova Scotia was fifth in the standings on the week while former event champion Kevin Foisy from Clayton, Ontario was 12th.

Jak Crawford won his fourth Young Lions Legend race of the week on Friday to wrap up the INEX Winter Nationals title.

Layton Harrison won his second straight Beginner Bandolero feature to close out INEX Winter Nationals. Conner Weddell bested Whitney Meggs for the week long championships.
