Hall Wins in Tie Breaker Over Naugle at #WinterNats17; Mahar Scores Big Bando Win

Cory Hall has added an INEX Winter Nationals title to his Legend racing resume Friday at Citrus County Speedway.

Hall entered the day three points behind Dartmouth, Nova Scotia’s Nicholas Naugle in the Semi Pro division standings following an eighth place finish on Thursday. Naugle had won Thursday’s time shortened ten lap feature and would start seventh on Friday, one spot behind Hall after the invert for the Semi Pro feature was drawn at six.

The two had quickly worked their way to the front of the field, with Hall getting the advantage and the eventual win. Naugle pushed hard at the end to fight through traffic but ultimately ended up second on Friday afternoon. The two would tie for the point championship, with Hall’s four wins on the week taking the nod over Naugle’s one.

Prior to entering this week, Hall had never won a feature at the INEX Winter Nationals event after competing in Legends and Bandoleros at Auburndale Speedway and Orlando Speedworld over the past four years. Hall is now a four time feature winner and a champion at the event in the first year the event returns to the Inverness, Florida oval.

Waylon Farrell finished his week with an eighth place finish in the Semi Pro class on Friday with his brother Will in 11th. The Conception Bay South, Newfoundland brothers finished their week 5th and 13th in the point standings, respectively.

Owen Mahar became the only Canadian Bandolero driver to win a race during INEX Winter Nationals after taking a thrilling Bandolero Bandit feature on Friday. After the leaders jostled for the lead, Mahar put himself into the lead and held off point champion Leland Honeyman to capture his first career INEX Winter Nationals victory. Nathan Langille added a third place trophy on Friday to four second place finishes on the week. Langille came home second in the week long standings while Mahar was credited with 11th place.

Sam Rogers finished second on Friday during the Bandolero Outlaw feature, his third second place run in as many days. Josh Langille came home in fourth on Friday, Michael Cormier fifth after starting from the pole, Danny Chisholm sixth and Portugal Cove, Newfoundland’s Michael Neary in ninth. Rogers finished third in the week long standings, Chisholm was fourth, Cormier fifth and Neary tenth.

Cameron Bolin of Sharon, South Carolina was the champion in the Outlaw division and was also the race winner on Friday afternoon.

Josh Langille made his Legend car debut in an AK Performance fielded car. Langille finished 14th in the Young Lions field, which was won on Friday by Maine’s Austin Teras. Teras also won the championship in a nailbiting finish over Sam Mayer.

Ira Laughy led the way for the Canadians in the Masters division. Laughy led the Friday feature but a small bobble in Turn Two gave the lead back to Tim Brockhouse, who would sweep the week of racing in the 40+ class. Laughy finished second in points with Paul Goulden sneaking into the top ten at the end of the week following a ninth place finish on the final day. Ontario’s Joe Sherman was 17th on the day and wound up 14th in the standings.

Dylan Dowe finished third in the final Beginner Bandit feature of the week with his sister Brooke Dowe in sixth. Brooke Dowe completed the week fourth in points with Dylan coming home in sixth.

The Pro division championship was won by Jordan Black after winning four of the five races on the week. Kaden Honeycutt edged Black for the win on Friday.
