Maritime Street Stock Showdown Set for Saturday at 5pm at Oyster Bed

Charlottetown, PEI . One of the the largest street stock racing events ever to be held in Atlantic Canada goes this Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway (OBS) at 5pm. A registered field of 38 cars will be attempting to make the $7,800 Discover KIA Maritime Street Stock Showdown main event 100 lap feature race. Only 30 cars will qualify for the featured event. Rain date is Sunday at 2pm.
Cars will be traveling from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to join the local PEI cars in this inaugural event. OBS support classes will also race on this evening with over 15 races on the card for the racing fan. The evening will see Free Admission for all youths 15 and under. The 50-50 proceeds will be donated to the QEH Pediatrics Unit.
A Fan Fun Zone will be set up inside the main gate from 3pm-5pm. Some of the events taking place include face painting, a bouncy castle, a Fire truck display, Kia Vehicle display and an area for fans to get their favourite drivers number heat pressed on t –shirts.
A street stock practice will take place Friday evening from 5pm-9pm.
Race Promoter, Tom Nicholls commented “This will be one of the best race nights of the season, the talk has been over whelming, the racers are super pumped and the fans have been eagerly anticipating this one. We hope to see a capacity crowd to cheer on these drivers from the Maritimes as we showcase the street stock class”.
