Butcher Scores First Island Win in BJ’s Truck Centre 150
Series Release
(Oyster Bed Bridge, PE – July 29, 2023) –Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) made an incredible pass on Darren Mackinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and Troy Burke (Sherwood, PE) on lap 138, and held on for the final laps to take home his second win on the season at the BJ’s Truck Centres 150. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) was in the mix all night long and earned a second-place finish. MacKinnon, making his 156th start on the Series, battled Burke door-to-door at the front of the field for a good portion of the race, but ultimately finished third. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) fought his way through the night to pick up a fourth-place finish. Burke may have led the most laps and pocketed the R&D Performance Centre cash bonus, but he had to settle for fifth when the checkers flew.
Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races kicked off Pro Stock action on the track. Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and Burke topped their respective Atlantic Tiltload heat races which set the field for the BJ’s Truck Centre 150.
Mike Rodgers (Moncton, NB) took home the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger award. Stephen Lively (Shubenacadie, NS) was the Fast Eddie Racewear Lucky Dog award winner. Burke was the top finishing Rookie of the race.
The East Coast International Pro Stock Tour is taking a week off to prepare for Summer Clash 250 – where the winner will walk away with at least $15,000.00 in their pocket! The three-day event taking place at Scotia Speedworld kicks off Thursday, August 10th with the Car & Truck Show N Shine and Food Truck Rally from 5:00-9:00pm. Friday the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series will present the Superior Foundations 100 for the Bay Equipment Sportsman, as well as Time Trials for the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour. Saturday is the main event – Summer Clash 250 at 4:00pm, with purse and contingency funds worth over $100,000.00 fans can expect non-stop action on the track!
