Roy To Race for Hailey’s Dreams on Saturday
Team Release/Photos by Max Roy/Speedway 660
On Saturday June 15th Speedway 660 will put on the 2013 edition of RE/MAX KIDS DAY! This yearly tradition is very popular with all the young kids of the area, and gives them a chance to see the race cars and meet their local heroes up close and personal
On this day, one Race team will be giving a little something extra, to a special little girl. Hailey Fitzgerald is a nine year old Fredericton girl who has been diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystophy (MLD), a terminal illness. Haileysdreams.org was setup to make Hailey’s remaining few years with us as best as they can be.
The #26 Service Master Clean Toyota Camry will be running special colors this weekend. Instead of the usual white with yellow and teal trim that has grown to be a staple in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division, the team will instead be throwing a couple coats of blue paint on the hood and topping it off with a dash of yellow.
“The whole team is very excited about this Saturday’s RE/MAX Kids Day.” said Brent Roy, driver of the number 26. “Hailey and her family are race fans and have frequented Speedway 600 many times and we feel honored that Hailey will be at the track this Saturday, to experience RE/MAX Kids Day. I and the entire race team want to make this a very memorable visit at the Speedway for her.”
Roy, who met the family through his sister and supporting sponsor says that it all just kind of clicked. “After finding out about Hailey’s Dreams, it just seemed like the right thing to do. We had to clear it with a couple sponsors before going ahead further with it, but as soon as we told Service Master, they were 100 percent on board. Not only are we flying the colors for the foundation this weekend, but all the race winnings earned will be going towards Hailey and her family as well.”
Re/Max Kids Day is a chance for the kids to get the autographs of all the drivers. Above this, the kids will be asked to sign the special hood of the #26 Camry, giving the Foundation and Hailey a little added bonus at the end of the race.
“We’re going to have a blue and white hood on the car this week for sweet Hailey, and we will be giving the kids markers to sign their names on it for us.” explained Roy.
