Track Release/Photo by WingNut Productions
JAMES RIVER, NS (September 7, 2022) – Fall is in the air, and with that comes the stock car racing season finale this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway when fans will get their fill of high-octane excitement to carry them through the winter months. Some of the best racers in the region will be on hand as the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour competitors contest round 11 of 12 for the ’22 season and the Auto World Allstar Sportsman Series will crown their inaugural champion.
Nineteen pro stock racers are on the early entry list for the East Coast International 150 including point leader Craig Slaunwhite who carries a significant, but not insurmountable, lead in the standings. Russell Smith Jr., racing out of Antigonish’s Nova Racing shop, is second in the standings and hoping to close the 66-point gap between him and Slaunwhite. Greg Proude is third just 15 markers behind Smith and Matt Vaughan is fourth, trailing Proude by just six points. Smith, Proude, and Vaughan are all looking for their first series title. The East Coast International 150 has the potential to shake things up – or lock them down – be there to see which way it goes.
The championship chase for the sportsman series title is tight with just 24 points separating the top four contenders. Brady Creamer has a two-point advantage over Deven Smith who leads Chris Reid by nine and he is just 13 points ahead of Colby Smith. They and the rest of the sportsman guys will finish their season in the NAPA Auto Parts/Henry’s AUTOPRO 75. Eighteen cars are on the entry list with the potential for more on race day. With the points battle as close as it is and all the others looking to improve their positions and a win, action should be door-handle to door-handle on every lap.
Grandstand and pit tickets are available here. Advance tickets offer expedited and contactless entry on race day. The pit gate opens at 11 a.m., the grandstand at 1 p.m., and racing starts at 4 p.m.
