INEX Winter Nationals Starts Monday at Citrus County Speedway

While Mother Nature continues to hammer Atlantic Canada with snow, some of the region’s brightest stars are set to hit the track Monday for their first races of 2017 – in the state of Florida.

INEX Winter Nationals for Legend and Bandolero competitors begins on Monday, February 20th and runs to Friday, February 24th at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida. A total of 14 Atlantic Canadian drivers are on the grounds and took part in the practice session for the event on Sunday.

The biggest concentration of drivers from the East Coast lies within the three Bandolero divisions. The Beginner Bandit division sees the Dowe siblings (Dylan and Brooke) from Bedford, Nova Scotia. The Bandit division sees Hubley, Nova Scotia’s Owen Mahar and 2016 Scotia Speedworld track champion Nathan Langille of Coldbrook, Nova Scotia out to bring home some hardware. The Outlaw division sees five Canadian hopefuls in current Scotia Speedworld champion and TCM Bandolero Blast winner Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS), 2016 Petty Raceway champion Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB), 2015 Scotia Speedworld track champion Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS), Scotia Speedworld feature winner Danny Chisholm (Coldbrook, NS) and Eastbound Park’s Michael Neary (Portugal Cove, NL).

The reigning Maritime League of Legends Tour champion headlines a strong field of Legend competitors from up north. Waylon Farrell and his brother Will (Conception Bay South, NL) both have new race cars at the INEX Winter Nationals and will compete in a Semi Pro field that also includes 2016 TCM Power Performer of the Year Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) and reigning Canadian East Semi Pro titlist and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour driver Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS). The Farrell’s Racing team also have a third car in the pit area which was practiced on Sunday by Alex Pacheco (Kannapolis, NC). Pacheco is familiar to Maritimers after he drove the #48 to victory at Riverside International Speedway in August.

Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) will make his INEX Winter Nationals debut in the Masters division as he tries to take the crown away from fellow Canadian Ira Laughy of Calgary, Alberta.

You will be able to follow along each day with the progress of the Atlantic Canadian teams with our INEX Winter Nationals chart. You can find it here or after the race day has been completed off the front page of TimsCorner.ca.
