(Miscouche, PE – July 4th, 2018) – The Eastern Super Mini Cup Series is ready to fuel up and hit the track for their third race of the 2018 season. The third of five stops on the year at Prince Edward Island’s Oyster Bed Speedway will be presented by the nearby Oyster Bed RiteSTOP. Racing begins on Saturday, July 7th at 6pm.

Mark Ferguson (Saint John, NB) enters the Oyster Bed RiteSTOP race day as the point leader on the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series, despite a stumble in Race Two in June. Ferguson won the Heat and Semi during Round Two presented by Byrne Plumbing but spun in the Feature and would wind up in sixth. His qualifying race consistency, paired with a feature win on Opening Day, have him leading the field heading into Round Three presented by Oyster Bed RiteSTOP.

The story of the season has been rookie Jacob Dunlop (Hampton, PE). Dunlop has two podium feature finishes in as many race meets and sits second in the point standings to Ferguson. Dunlop is only six points out of the championship lead and has a comfortable 24 point lead on Randy Wilson. Wilson, who sits third overall in the standings, is also chasing Dunlop for top freshman honors in 2018.

Donnie “Old Man” MacNeill (PEI) and Kirk Sheagreen (Miramichi, NB) finished first and second, respectively, in Round Two presented by Byrne Plumbing and have moved themselves into the top five in the point standings after two races.

Jeremy Alexander (Summerside, PE) will return to the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series. Alexander is multi-year veteran of the Series and is more than ready to attack his home track once again.

Logan Dawson (Tyne Valley, PE) will make his second Eastern Super Mini Cup Series start. Dave Griffin will round out a field of hungry drivers looking to cash in on a victory on Saturday evening.

The Eastern Super Mini Cup Series would like to thank Oyster Bed RiteSTOP and Esso for supporting the third round of the seven race 2018 schedule. Oyster Bed RiteSTOP and Esso is a family owned business based in the small community of Oyster Bed Bridge.
