Tugwell Takes DMR Auto Street Stock 75, Silliker Motorsports/Rankin Take Pro Stock Win

Track Release

Geoff Tugwell won the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 75 on Saturday night at Speedway 660. Tugwell and Rob Raynes started deep in the field and raced hard against each other while working their way to the front of the field. In the end Tugwell took the victory over his good friends Rob and Ryan Raynes. Rob Raynes and Rick Cashol were the Street Stock heat race winners.

“We worked hard all week to bring a good car here tonight and it was the best it’s been all season” said Tugwell. “Seventy-five laps is a long race for Street Stock cars and I think we gave the Speedway 660 fans a pretty good show tonight.”

It was a big night for John Rankin in the RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock Division. Rankin followed up a heat race win with his first ever Pro Stock feature victory. He finished ahead of five-time champion Dave O’Blenis and Big Kevin Moore. Glyn Nott won the other Pro Stock heat race.

“I’m so fortunate the Silliker race team approached me to drive their Pro Stock car this year and I am happy to be able to help get them a win” said an emotional Rankin from the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. “This team has really come together, has shown a lot of faith in me and given me a lot of confidence to go out and race against the best Pro Stock drivers in our region.”

Alexandra O’Blenis became the second Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division driver to win back to back features in 2015. OBlenis made a strong pass on defending point champion Brent Roy to earn the win. Richard Atkinson was third, while Braxton Stafford and Roy won the heat races.

Noah Gillespie followed up his first ever heat race win with a victory in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature. Gillespie took top spot ahead of Matt Crocker and James McCoy. Crocker won the other heat race.

Hudson Weston was another first time winner on Saturday night. Weston won the West Wood Estates Bandolero feature ahead of MacKenzie Brewer and Riley Goodwin, who won the Bando heat race.

Next Saturday night at 6:30PM Speedway 660 will host round two of the Capital City Auto Parts ENDRO Series. Then on Saturday, July 25th it’s the MacLaughlin Roof Trusses Pro Stock Best of the Best 150.
