DJ Casey (Prospect, NS) won the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race with a 9th place finish in the Cummins 100. The Cummins 100 was a fast paced affair, featuring three caution flags and a 68 lap green flag run to the finish.

Track Release
(July 4, 2015) A young driver from Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia won a fast-paced Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour race at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. Cole Butcher took the checkered flag in a race that saw only three caution flags and took less than 35 minutes to run.
“This is the toughest track we go to and it just might be the fastest too, so I’m thrilled to get my second Parts for Trucks Tour win of the season in our only visit to Speedway 660” said Butcher, from the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. “After I got by Dylan for the lead he stayed on my bumper and I had to focus on hitting my marks and working the lapped traffic late in the race to win the Cummins 100.”
Truro’s Dylan Blenkhorn, the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour championship point leader, finished in second place, after leading the first half of the race. Darren MacKinnon, from Milton Station Prince Edward Island, was third. Steve Halpin, from Saint John, finished seventh and was the top New Brunswicker in the race.
Greg Proude won the Atlantic Tiltload time trials, while Blenkhorn won the King Freight Line Dash. Dylan Gosbee and Donald Chisholm were winners in the Dartmouth Dodge Heat races.
Alexandra O’Blenis won the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 40 lap feature. O’Blenis tracked down and passed rookie Ryan Messer for the win, while Richard Atkinson was third. Alexandra’s Father Dave, who won one of the Sportsman heat races, finished fifth in the feature. Messer won the other heat race.
“I am so excited to get this win tonight, it’s the first time I’ve ever beat my Dad here at 660 so I guess I’ll be able to give him a bit of a hard time about that next week” said Alexandra. “Ryan and I raced each other hard and thankfully I was able to make the pass after that caution to get this win tonight.”
The DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock drivers put on some show for the Speedway 660 fans. Geoff Tugwell picked up his second feature win of the year, ahead of Robert Raynes and Courtney O’Blenis. Rick Cashol and Raynes won the Street Stock heat races.
Next Saturday night Speedway 660 resumes action with racing in all five of its weekly divisions. The highlight of the night will be the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 75. The Re/Max Pro Stocks, Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and West Wood Estates Bandolero drivers will also race.
