(RIVER GLADE, NB – Wednesday, June 24th) – Petty International Raceway continues their 2015 season on Saturday, June 27th when the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour rolls into River Glade, New Brunswick for the Linde 100. This is the second of three appearances of the popular regional touring series to the 1/4-mile oval for 2015 and is expected to bring the top Pro Stock drivers from across the region to battle it out for 100 green flag laps. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials begin at 5:10pm with racing slated for a 6pm green flag.
Three of Petty International Raceway’s house divisions will play support to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, including the CMax Street Stocks, Mister Transmission Mini Stocks and the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros.
After two races in the CMax Street Stock class, defending champion Kenny MacKenzie Jr. (Salisbury) holds a slim two point lead over Gary Tingley (Salisbury) and Courtney O’Blenis (Boundary Creek). MacKenzie and Tingley have won the first two feature races of the season, while the youngest of the O’Blenis siblings has shown consistency enough to put her second in the standings after the opening two events.
A rough and tumble Mister Transmission Mini Stock feature on Saturday, May 30th created a tie atop the point standings after two races between Mike Edwards (Penobsquis) and Kody Quinn (Glace Bay, NS). Edwards mixed it up with third place point driver Mike Weagle (Salisbury) at the end of the last race for the four cylinder division and now five points separate Weagle from the tie at the top. The 2014 champion of the Mister Transmission Mini Stock class, JR Lawson of Shubenacadie, NS, was the feature winner on May 30th.
Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton) heads up the Leisure Days RV Bandolero division after two races. Tucker has a three point advantage on last year’s NAPA Petitcodiac Rookie of the Year Levi Rossiter (Salisbury) and “The Flying Frenchman” Michael Cormier (Grand Barachois), who find themselves knotted for second place in the standings. Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS), who won the first Bandolero feature of the season at Petty International Raceway and is the INEX Canadian Outlaw division point leader, had a misstep during the May 30th feature and finds himself fifth in points, behind Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS).
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is led into competition by point leader Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) after competition last Saturday night at Scotia Speedworld (NS). New Brunswick will be represented in the Linde 100 by reigning Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Sarah McKay (Quispamsis), Ken MacKenzie Sr. (Salisbury), Tim Rodgers (Upper Coverdale) and Michael Kyle (Sussex).
Pit gates for competitors participating in the Linde 100 open at 12:30pm on Saturday, June 27th. Grandstand gates for spectators open at 3pm with racing getting underway at 6pm. Adult admission to the grandstands is $25, youth admission (ages eight to 18) is $10 while children seven and under are admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on race day.
The Petty Raceway Sportsman division is off on Saturday night, but will return on Saturday, July 11th at 6pm. The Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, CMax Street Stocks and Mister Transmission Mini Stocks will contest point racing on the night. Also on the card for the July 11th show is Petty Raceway’s first Demolition Derby, which will pay $1,000 to the winner.
