One of the season’s biggest Sportsman races is scheduled for Saturday night at Speedway 660. The Martin’s Home Heating 100 is the first event in a three race series at three different tracks. The driver who accumulates the most points in races at Speedway 660, Petty International Raceway and Speedway Miramichi will be crowned the New Brunswick Short Track champion.
“Fans love Sportsman racing and our company is proud to sponsor the first race in this brand new provincial championship series” said Richard Martin, a long-time Speedway 660 marketing partner. “The Martin’s Home Heating 100 is always an awesome night of entertainment and this year it will attract drivers and fans from all over New Brunswick to kick off this new series.”
Speedway 660 has a strong group of Sportsman drivers who are ready to defend their home track. But several drivers from the Moncton area and the Miramichi, who will contend for the New Brunswick title, will be out to have a strong finish in the first race of the new series. There will likely be a Pro Stock driver or two who will jump in a Sportsman car for the race and there may be drivers from outside of New Brunswick.
“We’re really happy to work with the folks from Petty and Miramichi to present New Brunswick fans with this new Short Track Challenge and expect a great race on Saturday night” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “Sportsman racing has a strong history in our province and the Martin’s Home Heating 100 has always been one of the premier events so we can’t wait for the green flag to fly.”
The West Wood Estates Bandoleros, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and DMR Auto Sales Street Stocks are also on the schedule this weekend. It’s Speedway 660’s first night race of the season and fans are reminded the new start time for Saturday night races is 6:30PM.
Adult ticket prices are $20; Youth tickets, for kids between eight and 15 are $10; Pit Passes are $5 and; admission is always free for Speedway 660’s youngest race fans, seven and under.
The rain date for the Martins Home Heating Sportsman 100 is Sunday at 2PM. If the weather is unsettled on Saturday morning, fans and race team members should call the Speedway 660 race line at 506-454-7223 or visit www.Speedway660.com for race day status updates.
Coming up Saturday (June 13th) Speedway 660 hosts a Weekly Championship Points racing event. Fans will see the Re/Max Pro Stocks, Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, DMR Auto Sales Street Stocks, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and West Wood Estates Bandoleros. It will be another fast paced night of action.
Speedway 660 is one of Canada’s premier stock car racing facilities. Located in New Brunswick’s Fredericton region, it attracts race teams and fans from the Maritimes, Maine and Quebec. The Speedway 660 racing season runs from mid May until Labour Day Weekend. SpeedWeekend 2015, one of the most prestigious short track events in eastern North America, is always a fitting way to wrap up Speedway 660’s racing season.
