(Halifax, NS – May 19th, 2015) Scotia Speedworld is pleased to announce The Chickenburger as a new sponsor for the upcoming race season. The iconic Bedford diner will be the presenting sponsor of the Thunder & Lightning Weekly Racing Series divisions.

For 75 years, The Chickenburger has been a destination for families and friends alike with its vintage atmosphere and delicious food. Today, the historical landmark remains a community icon. It is also heralded as a Canadian gem, being the oldest drive-in diner in Canada.

The Chickenburger Thunder division boasts some of the best grassroots racers in Atlantic Canada. The Honda driven division at Scotia Speedworld sees close racing and friendly rivalries that leave fans on the edge of their seats. Last season, it was Dave Matthews of Kennetcook winning his second career championship over two-time titlist Tim Webster of Beaverbank.

The Chickenburger Lightning class is the entry level division of racing at Scotia Speedworld. From the novice driver who wants to fulfill their need for speed to the veteran who is looking for their breakout season in the sport, The Chickenburger Lightning class presents an array of drivers and storylines every Friday night. A total of seven drivers won at least one main feature last season, showing just how close the competition is in this class.

The Chickenburger Thunder & Lightning cars will both kick-off their 2015 campaigns this Sunday at the Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series Season Opener. All six Weekly Racing Series divisions will see action on Sunday with racing slated for 2:00pm. Visit for complete event information.
