Petty Raceway Releases 2015 Schedule of Events

On the heels of Scotia Speedworld and Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway, Petty International Raceway is gearing up for their 2015 season by releasing their preliminary schedule of events.

The slate features nine racing events on seven weekends, with only two, the 51st International weekend and the Mike Stevens Memorial weekend, having two events on their weekends.

With the change, fans will see more Saturday night racing at Petty Raceway in 2015.

The Season Opener returns to the Victoria Day long weekend with a Saturday, May 16th date to open the season. The event will see all of Petty Raceway’s house divisions compete (Pro Stock, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Bandolero) to open the year in Atlantic Canada.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will see three dates at Petty Raceway on Saturday, May 30th (100 Laps), Saturday, June 27th (100 Laps) and the International weekend on Saturday, August 22nd (150 Laps). The Maritime League of Legends Tour will serve as the undercard on the August 22nd show. Other touring series (the Atlantic Modified Tour and the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series each visited in 2014) and dates for those series are to be announced when available.

The date on Atlantic Nationals weekend has been moved to the Saturday of the weekend, and will see action in the Sportsman, Mini Stock and Bandolero classes. Also on the card is the first Petty Raceway Demolition Derby.

On the heels of a successful Caleb Dunn Memorial event in 2014, the event will stay a one-day show in 2015, taking place on Sunday, August 2nd. The event will feature all five of Petty Raceway’s house divisions.

In addition to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, the 51st River Glade International weekend will kick off on Friday, August 21st with a Sportsman 100. The Mini Stock and Bandolero class will play support on the opening night of Petty’s first of two double header weekends of the season.

With a ripple in the calendar, the second annual Mike Stevens Memorial weekend will go green on Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th. The Friday show will feature the Street Stock, Mini Stock and Bandolero classes, while the Pro Stocks (150 Laps) and the Sportsman (100 Laps) will finish the season at Petty Raceway on the Saturday card.

Saturday, October 10th will see the third annual Petty Raceway Flea Market.

The schedule is tentative, and is subject to change without notice. Start times, lap counts and additional divisions are to be announced in the coming months leading up to the season.
