LeClair Crowned Atlantic Champion For Street Stocks
When the checkered flag flew on track, Geoff Tugwell was victorious in the Street Stock 100 at the Atlantic Championships event at Shediac’s Centre for Speed.
When he exited the tech shed following inspection, he did it without his first place trophy. That went to Brackley Beach, PE’s Mark LeClair.
LeClair, who came within a lap of winning September’s David Lambe Memorial at Oyster Bed Speedway, inherited the win when Tugwell’s #29T failed post race inspection. With that, Alexandra O’Blenis moved to second place and when the fourth place car left prior to going to post race technical inspection, Courtney O’Blenis was moved to third in the final results.
JR Lawson went from 14th to first in the Mini Stock 75 feature, scoring the biggest feature win at a track he claimed the track championship at in 2014. Lawson waged war with Tim Webster in the late stages, including three late race restarts, one in which Webster got the best of Lawson. Mike Weagle finished third in the race.
Matt Crocker had the field completely covered in the Four Fun 50 on Saturday as he drove to the big win over Terry Moore, driving for Mark Campbell, and Oyster Bed Speedway’s Jason Baglole.
Braden Langille will go into the off season with the hottest hand in the Bandolero division after winning the Atlantic Championships Bandolero feature. Langille had previously won races at Speedway Miramichi and Petty Raceway leading into the event, which was also on the heels of a track championship at Scotia Speedworld. The caution free, 25 lap feature, saw rookie Levi Rossiter and Dylan Sutherland complete the podium.
Complete results will be available as provided to us by the track and were unavailable at press time.
Sunday’s racing tentatively features the Pro Stock/Super Late Models, Sportsman and the finale for the Atlantic Modified Tour. Action is slated for a 1pm start, but fans are urged to check our Facebook page for weather updates prior to heading to the track!
