Cole Butcher to Run Legends Nationals at Vegas for Farbo Motorsports

Later this month, Cole Butcher will be looking to light it up in Las Vegas.

While the Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia teenager is too young to gamble, he will be taking to the track in a high stakes battle at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for US Legend Asphalt Nationals on October 16th through the 18th. Butcher will be piloting a car out of the Farbo Motorsports stable of Concord, North Carolina, funded by Atlantic Tiltload.

Butcher, one of only two INEX Pro Legend car drivers in the Maritimes, won the Scotia Speedworld Strictly Hydraulics Legends championship in 2014 on the strength of seven feature wins. The championship was the fourth consecutive track championship at the 3/10-mile oval adjacent to the Halifax International Airport, three of those coming in Legend cars and one in Bandoleros.  In addition, Butcher won the National Qualifier at Scotia Speedworld for the Pro Legends division on August 22nd, which will notch a provisional into the event in Las Vegas.

Butcher is also the 2012 Maritime League of Legends Tour champion and was runner-up in the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year chase on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in 2013. In just 24 starts on the top Late Model touring series in Canada, Butcher has amassed four podium finishes, seven top fives and 18 top ten finishes.

When it comes to Legend cars, Butcher has taken part in INEX Winter Nationals at Auburndale Speedway the last two seasons. As a Semi-Pro in 2013, Butcher finished fifth in his first appearance at the Florida oval. Moving up to the Pro division in 2014, Butcher finished tenth in the standings after a slow start to the five day week.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to run at Legends Nationals,” said Butcher. “Farbo Motorsports has top notch equipment and I know I’ll be in a competitive car when I hit the race track. I’m looking forward to this opportunity to represent my country on the National stage and running with some of the best Legend drivers in the world!”

The event gets underway on Thursday, October 16th with an open practice for all registered competitors. The action heats up Friday, October 17th with European style qualifying (group time trials) and heat races for each class at Legends Nationals. Championship day is Saturday, October 18th, where C and B Mains will set the field for the 50-lap main feature.

Fans wishing to follow Butcher and the 23rd Annual Legends Asphalt Nationals can purchase pay-per-view coverage of the event via speedshifttv.com. A two day (Friday and Saturday) pass can be purchased for $40, with each day being sold for $25. Viewership packages will be available the week of the event.
