Track Release
The reopening of the Speedway in Sydney, NS took place yesterday under the new name of Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway.
The event featured the Cat Mini 30 and the combined class of the CB Trailer Street Stock and Napa Sportsman for the Gillis Home Hardware 100 lap main feature since the entry list for the Street Stock was only 4 as other planned to attend cars were not mechanically ready.
The many fans in attendance enjoyed the pre-race show featuring Aselin Debson, with Debson performing many songs from the heart of Cape Breton Island. Also in attendance were past owner’s of the Speedway including the original builder, Mr. Bud Greer as well as Stan Dicks.
Nathaniel Smith, whose entry for a new name for the track was chosen back in April was on hand to give the race command and give the green flag go for the main feature for the Napa Sportsman Gillis Home Hardware 100 and the CB Trailer Street Stock, a combined class race. Both the Cat Mini 30 and the main feature were uneventful with 1 and 2 cautions, consecutively.
Racing resumes at CBMMS on August 30th with all 3 classes and the NAPA Sportsman will see action at Riverside Speedway on August 15th.

Chris Reid picked up right where he left off at his home track by christening the new Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway with a victory.
Reid bested his brother Kyle Reid and Ross Lewis, all from Sydney, in the headlining Gillis Home Hardware 100 for the Napa Sportsman. Fourteen cars started the event.
Rookie Kody Quinn swept the Mini Stock events, Street Stock results were unavailable at press time.
