Centre for Speed Continues to Offer “Old School” Racing

Track Release

Riverview and Shediac, NB – Shediac’s CFS  will offer Round 2 of what it is calling “Old School” Sportsman Racing this Saturday Nightg at 7 PM.  The speedways annual series for Maritime Sportsman was expanded this year to include Street Stocks and Mini Stocks each racing in 50 lap feature events.  Unlike most Sportsman events at Maritime tracks in recent years the Maritime Super Series events are all scheduled as Saturday Night, under the lights events just like in years gone past where the Sportsman and their supporting classes are the weekends “BIG SHOW”.   The “OLD SCHOOL” approach eludes to the speedways refusal to allow non stock chassis’ and components due to the high cost and where cars must continue to run in second gear as has always been the case in the class.    The result, according to Owner, Tim Wile has been close racing despite lower than expected car counts.  This weekend CFS hopes to see a few more cars than at Round 1 and expects the trend to continue to round 3 and onward.  Front gate open at 6 PM.  General Admission for this Saturday is $10 for Adults and $5 for kids 9-15.   Kids 8 and under are free.  Pit admission is $20.  In addition its “Checkered Flag Day” where everyone is encouraged to bring a checkered flag to the speedway and someone will be selected as Grand Marshall for the Aug 9th event based on their flag waving enthusiasm.  Flags will also be available at the speedway for those kids who don’t have one at home.
