CBMMS Announces October 18th Makeup Date, On Target for July 26th (PHOTOS)
Things have been busy at Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway.
After having to postpone their first race of the season, the track management is full steam ahead for their season opener on July 26th. One major hurdle is expected to be cleared today (July 15th) with the inspection for a gaming permit. When it comes to renovations, track owner Lynne Vasil says they are “95% complete” and will be ready for the July 26th date.
The fourth date, which had to be rescheduled when renovations were put behind because of a wet spring and late summer, has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 18th. The date was selected as to not step on any toes of any major fall racing dates in Atlantic Canada. With no major stock car shows running on the event and it being the last racing event in the region before the snow flies, it is expected that car counts will be strong for what is now the “finale” for the 2014 season in Sydney.
Some photos of the current renovations are below, from the Facebook group for the track. Photo credits go to Jamie Peach, Brandon Macmillan-Gormley and Lynne Vasil.
Kody Quinn, pictured in the feature McCarthy Photographic photo with Petty Raceway trophy girl Blake Tingley, has been traveling the region with his Honda Civic in preparation for opening day at Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway. He will be one to beat in the Mini Stock class when the series opens up on July 26th.

The walls, as seen in these two pictures, have received a new coat of yellow paint. No excuse for not being able to see the walls!
