Pro Stock Tour Heads to Fredericton Saturday for Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100

Series Release

(Halifax, NS, July 2, 2014) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its only visit this season to Speedway 660 on Saturday for the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100. Speedway 660 is a 1/3 mile high banked oval located just outside of Fredericton in Geary, NB.  Saturday’s Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100 will mark round five of 12 for the popular Maritime based touring series. Qualifying for the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100 gets underway with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials at 6:10 PM, racing action is slated for 7:00 PM.

John Flemming (Halifax, NS) continues to lead the championship point standings after four races over Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) and Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) who are tied for second. Flemming entered last weekend’s event at Petty International Raceway with a 17 point advantage over Tucker but after a seventh place finish Flemming’s championship cushion has fallen to just eight points – which presents a huge opportunity for the talented field looking to de-throne the reigning series champ. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and Dlyan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) round out the top-five and will be looking to cash in on Flemming’s slight stumble. Blenkhorn will also be racing for his third consecutive victory at the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100 on Saturday.

When it comes to Speedway 660, hometown favorite Shawn Tucker of Fredericton is the driver to watch. Tucker has finished in the top-ten at all 25 Pro Stock Tour appearances at the 1/3 mile oval, which includes eight wins! Sarah McKay (Quispamsis, NB) won Rookie of the Year in the Sportsman class at 660 last season. Several other New Brunswick based teams will also compete on Saturday including Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) who has two Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour trophies on his mantle from Speedway 660. Kevin Moore (Fredericton, NB), Chris Duncan (Hampton, NB) and Matt Harris (Fredericton Junction, NB) are also expected to be in the field for the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100.

The DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stocks and Martins Home Heating Sportsman will also be on track Saturday prior to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour main event. The Streets Stocks will have a 20 lap feature and the Sportsman will race for 30 laps.

Tickets for the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100 will be available at the gate on race day. Admission is $25.00 for Adults (16yrs and up), Youth are $15.00 (8-15 yrs.) and Children seven and under are free. Complete event information can be found at www.maritimeprostocktour.com
