Results – Oyster Bed Speedway – June 21st

In the first night of racing under the lights last Saturday night at Oyster Bed Speedway, the racing was close and rough resulting in tempers boiling over before the night was over.

In the Late Model division Brodie MacQuarrie seemed to be at the centre of attention for most of the night. In the division’s opening race Allison MacKinnon was running in the lead when MacQuarrie caught up to his rear bumper. MacQuarrie found an opening and pulled beside the race leader. The two continued to race side by side till they came to the last set of corners. With the Checkered Flag waving the two made contact with each other coming out of turn four and with both cars attempting to regain their momentum MacQuarrie was able to cross the finish line first for the controversial win.

In the semi race MacQuarrie was again in the centre of another incident. With drivers battling for position coming out of turn two Tyler Gauthier and Randy Millar made contact sending the two cars on a wild ride. Gauthier’s car, after making contact with Millar’s driver side door got launched into the air and drove right up the side of Millar’s car nearly flipping before the two cars finally came to rest on the infield. Millar was forced to exit his vehicle through the passenger side window.

The pace car picked up the field and as the pack crept by the wreck Millar became infuriated with MacQuarrie, accusing him of causing the wreck and ran to the car trying to get at the driver. Several track officials had to restrain Millar who eventually calmed down and left the track to the pits. After extensive work Millar was able to get the car back out in time for the feature.

In the end MacQuarrie scored two wins on the night including the feature with division Leader Robbie MacEwen grabbing a pair of wins and Brandon Snow securing his first win of the season.

In the Street Stock Division bumping and grinding was the order of the night. On multiple occasions the top four cars ran side by side bumper to bumper almost seeming like they were all attached to each other by a strap. This made for some white knuckle racing with cheers coming from the very please crowd that was in attendance for the evening of races.

Nick Chaisson was the big winner on the night scoring a pair of wins including the feature and adding a third place finish as well. More importantly he moved into first place in division points. Mark Leclair also bounced back after a tech inspection revealed an engine infraction. He had a win, a second and a third place finish. Despite not grabbing a win on the night Alex Sheehan also had a strong performance with a pair of seconds and a third in the feature, moving him into second in the points standings.

The Street Stock division will be front and center this Saturday night with their opening round of the Super Series with a 50 lap feature scheduled for the finale.

In the Outlaw division Kendall Palmer continued his hot streak as of late opening up with a pair of wins and a second in the feature. This was however not enough to pass Tyler MacLean for the points lead as MacLean scored the feature win to add to the pair of thirds in his opening races.

In the Four Fun division, points leader Jason Baglole was found to have a suspension infraction during post race tech inspection. This cancelled out his two wins on the night but more importantly erased his points lead. Andy Shea, Charles Woolaver and Tyler Smith were all eventual winners on the night in the division.

Racing starts at 7pm Saturday night and features not only the Street Stock division but also the first appearance of the Eastern Mini-Cup Series.
