Weekly Racing Series to Rock Live 105 Night Friday at Speedworld

Track Release

(Halifax, NS.) Scotia Speedworld’s Weekly Racing Series is gearing up for Live 105 night this Friday at 7:00 PM. Three divisions will be on track Friday night, the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros, Strictly Hydraulics Legends and the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman. All three divisions will have extended distance features. Adult tickets are $12.00; Youth tickets (8-15 years) are just $2.00 and children 7 and under are admitted for free all season at Scotia Speedworld! Adult weekend passes are also available and include admission to Saturday’s Lockhart Truck Center 150. Adult weekend passes are $30 for grandstands and $35 for pit access. Tickets and weekend passes will be available at the gate on race day (cash only).

For the first time since its inception in 2006, the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros will see an extended 25-lap feature on Friday night. Coming off his first feature win in two seasons, Cole Tanner (Shubenacadie) will attempt to go down in history as the first extended feature winner in the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero division. Off the strength of two podium finishes in the first two weeks of the season, Kennetcook’s Luke Ettinger leads the points over the defending champion Adam Meehan (Rawdon) heading into competition on Live 105 night.

Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake) made his presence known in the first two events this season in the Strictly Hydraulics Legends division and will be driving for his third consecutive win Friday night. Butcher will have to hold off a talented and hungry field in the extended 50-lap feature in order to stand atop the podium again on Live 105 night. Butcher leads the point standings followed by Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth), Emily Meehan (Rawdon), Jeff Cruikshank (Hansport) and Joey Lawson (Porter’s Lake) who complete the top five.

The action and excitement of the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman division will leave fans on the edge of their seats when they take the green flag on Friday for their first 50-lap feature of 2014. Last week, sparks flew on two late race restarts, resulting in defending champion Darren Wallage of Oakfield taking the win over Brently Pirri (Three Fathom Harbour) and Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake). Wallage is tied atop the championship standings with Harry Ross White of Noel Road. Sophomore DJ Casey (Prospect Road), 2012 champion Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake) and Tony Leonard (Goodwood) round out the top five respectively.
