Speedworld Cancels Friday’s Hydraulics Plus Night (06/06)
Mother Nature has claimed its first race card in Nova Scotia for 2014.
Officials at Scotia Speedworld have been forced to cancel Friday’s Hydraulics Plus Night due to the forecast of persistent showers, drizzle and fog throughout the late afternoon and into the night. The card was slated to be the first under the lights card for the Weekly Racing Series.
There is no make-up date for the event.
The next event at Scotia Speedworld is Friday, June 13th at 7pm with AMP Energy Night. The Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman, Coors Light Trucks, Strictly Hydraulics Legends, Hydraulic Plus Bandolero and Scotia Speedworld Lightning divisions will be on the card. The $5 admission with your Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour stub offer will remain valid at the grandstand gate for adult admissions for the Friday the 13th card.
Scotia Speedworld is the fourth track in Atlantic Canada to lose a race card due to rain or wet grounds. Speedway Miramichi, Petty International Raceway and Speedway 660 in New Brunswick each lost one event in May due to a late Spring thaw, while Speedway 660 lost a second event due to rain on May 18th.
Earlier on in the day, Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway officials in Sydney, Nova Scotia, announced they would be pulling the plug on their July 5th event due to weather and unforeseen circumstances. The track was purchased in January by Bill and Lynne Vasil and needed extensive renovations to be ready to race.
Scotia Speedworld, to this point, had ran all shows as scheduled, including their annual Tech ‘n Tune, the Harry Poole Memorial 100 presented by Lucas Oil for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and their Weekly Racing Series opener. Last weekend, Maple Leaf Monster Jam was in town for their annual appearance at the Speedworld.
