SPORTSMAN: 1:1 Drivetrain Option Weight Penalty Reduced to 50lbs

A note was released to Maritime Sportsman competitors late Wednesday night via websites of Speedway 660 and Petty Raceway in regards to the 1:1 Drivetrain Option weight penalty. Prior to the season, teams that opted to go 1:1 would be assessed an 100 pound penalty to their race cars, which has since been revised to 50 pounds.

After extensive competition research it has been determined by the Maritime Sportsman Rules committee that the current 100 lb. penalty applied to the 1:1 drivetrain option will be reduced to 50 lb. This was done to promote fair and even competition and was addressed as early as possible in the season to allow affected teams to adjust as necessary.
