“Rational” Richard Racing for Breast Cancer Awareness
The 2013 season at Scotia Speedworld for “Rational” Richard Patrick could be considered as a breakout season for the 20-year old Halifax driver.
Patrick began the season in a big way, winning his first career main feature on Opening Day. He followed that up with three more podium finishes, which gave him the point lead. In fact, in the five feature races he finished, his worst finish was third.
If it wasn’t for bad luck that took him out of title contention around the halfway point of the season, we may have been talking about Richard Patrick as a champion at Scotia Speedworld.
While checkered flags will be in his sights for 2014, this season has a greater meaning for the team.
Fans accustomed to seeing Patrick in the iconic Ken Zwicker red #141 (as pictured after that first win, thanks to Mike McCarthy), will see the car in a “lighter” shade of red this season, as pink takes center stage for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Patrick’s mother Janis was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year, a disease she defeated thanks in part to early detection and treatment.
The car was unveiled on the CTV Weekend News on Sunday – and it looks sharp! Be sure to check it out in person on May 25th at the season opener for Scotia Speedworld. Until then, you can click the link below, which will take you to the CTV News story.
Richard, Janis and Ken are all huge supporters of Tim’s Corner Motorsports and we wish them nothing but the best in this 2014 racing season!
