Petty Raceway Cancels May 17th LaFarge Season Opener

Due to a recent string of wet weather, management at Petty International Raceway have been forced to cancel their LaFarge Aggregates and Concrete season opening card on Saturday, May 17th.

Further renovations are required to the new staging area behind the new Turn Three and Four wall before the green flag flies for 2014. The grounds in the area have been saturated with recent rains and combined with the late snow melt this Spring, the work is behind schedule and cannot be completed until the ground dries up. With this area being used as the exit road from the pit area, racing cannot take place until construction is completed.

With the cancellation, the first race of the season at Petty International Raceway will take place on Saturday, May 31st, when the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is in town for the Irving Blending & Packaging 100. Point races will be contested in the Petty Raceway Street Stock and Mister Transmission Mini Stock classes while the NAPA C Max Sportsman division will run a 50 lap non-point event. Post time for the event is 6pm.
