Steve Halpin Enters Orange County PASS Race April 5th

Saint John, New Brunswick’s Steve Halpin is set to make his first career Pro All Stars Series start on April 5th – about 1,700kms away from home.

Halpin has been tapped to drive the iconic Dick Woodman #4 car in the Orange County 150 at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, North Carolina on April 5th. The event is Race Three on the Pro All Stars Series South Super Late Model schedule. Woodman’s team went to victory lane in the first event of the season at Greenville-Pickens Speedway earlier this month with Daniel Hemric at the helm.

The 2012 Parts for Trucks Maritime Pro Stock Tour Rookie of the Year and 2011 podium finisher in the Auto Value 250 at Speedway 660 is anxious to get his 2014 season going and is excited for his first foray south of the border. “When our 2013 season finished up, we began talking about maybe doing a PASS South race prior to our local program,” said Halpin. “I’m very excited to be given the opportunity Dick has given me. This is only going to help me to hit the ground running once our season up north begins.”

The series is new to Halpin, who has competed between the Speedway 660 Pro Stock and the Parts for Trucks Tour since 2011 after making the jump from the Late Model Sportsman division. “I’ve never run with this tire or engine package (that PASS South runs) before, but I am hopeful we can get it figured out on Friday during practice. Dick has shown with his success that the cars can get the job done. Now its up to me and I’m excited for the challenge!”

As for his local schedule, long time crew chief Geoff Armstrong tells Tim’s Corner Motorsports fans can expect much of the same as last year. “Our plan is to start out by running at Petty with their series and hopefully the IWK 250 and Auto Value 250, funding pending. We are also eying the PASS North race and the Best of the Best 150 in Geary.”

Racing is slated for a 6pm start at Orange County Speedway on April 5th, with Time Trials beginning at 4pm on race day.
