Maritime iRacing League
TCM TO PRESENT MiRL ALL STAR SHOOTOUT WEDNESDAY
Tim’s Corner Motorsports is a familiar name in not only the Maritime stock car racing scene but also in the iRacing world. On Wednesday, December 5th, the name will tie both together as the Maritime iRacing League will host their season ending All Star Shootout, presented by Tim’s Corner Motorsports.
The event, to be broadcast by ETV Live at 8pm Atlantic, will feature two races at the virtual South Boston Speedway. The first will see the All Star Open, in which drivers who have failed to finish on the podium in any of the MiRL races in 2012 will run for 40 laps with the top three transferring to the All Star Shootout. The Tim’s Corner Motorsports All Star Shootout will be 100 laps, broken up into three segments. The race will start with a minimum of 16 drivers, with drivers being eliminated in each segment. The final 20 lap dash will feature the Top Eight drivers from Segment Two as they will race for the Tim’s Corner Motorsports All Star Shootout victory!
Headlining the field of drivers currently locked into the field include inaugural MiRL champion Keith Mac, runner-up and three feature winner Ricky Arbeau, Oxford winners Steven Matthews and Ronnie Mackay, season opener winner Shawn Pierce and USA International feature winner Jake Goodwin. American Joey Doiron, Kevin Savoury, Robert Lee, Mike Alexander, Kirby Myers and Kyle Boudreau also have tickets to the big dance. Dylan Duval was the last driver to qualify for the event in the regular season by winning the season finale Rustick Auto and Towing 200 at Lanier National Speedway.
The Tim’s Corner Motorsports Fan Vote will decide the final starting position in the main event on Wednesday. As of press time, Jon Gahan has a slim lead over Tim Terry and Marc Williams with voting scheduled to close on Tuesday night. Fans can vote for their favorite by going to the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Facebook page at www.facebook.com/timscorner.
Action begins at 8pm Atlantic with the 40-lap All Star Open, which will be followed by the All Star Race, which is scheduled to start at 8:30pm. ETVLive!’s broadcast crew is set to hit the air at 8pm with live, flag-to-flag coverage of the event.
The Late Model Championships are also expected to unveil their 2013 Late Model 250 on Wednesday. The Late Model Championships will celebrate their 5th Anniversary this season and has seen a Who’s Who of sim racers run for the prestigious crown. In 2012, Tyler Hudson scored the victory at New Smyrna Speedway and pocketed $202 for the win.
The Tim’s Corner Motorsports All Star Shootout will officially close the 2012 Maritime iRacing League Late Model Season. The second season will begin in January and will feature another 12 week season run on short tracks using iRacing’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS add-on. Each driver in the MiRL either hails from Atlantic Canada or has connections to the area. For more information, search Maritime iRacing League on Facebook or go to www.mirl.ca.
