Ackles Prepares for 31st Annual Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show

The calendar has changed to March and with that, we are not long away from the snow beginning to melt, the ambient temperatures warming up and the sound of race cars on our local short track ovals as they gear up for their season opening events in May and June.

With that, comes some teams just beginning the process of getting their car ready for the season. Upcoming will be long nights in the shop tweaking on the car, changing mechanical components, molding body panels into place, placing a new coat of paint on the car (or wrapping the car) along with laying vinyl to make it look pretty.

For Chantel Ackles and her race team, the latter stages of that are pretty much done for her 2014 ride.

Ackles will be one of five race cars on display this weekend at the 2014 Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show at Exhibition Park in Halifax between displays for Scotia Speedworld, the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and Meehan Racing.

“Hollywood” and her #30 Thunder ride will be joined by two-time and defending Coors Light Truck champ Dan Smith, up and coming Pro Stock star Cole Butcher, Maritime League of Legends Tour runner up Emily Meehan and Scotia Speedworld Hydraulics Plus Bandolero champion Adam Meehan. The show opens Friday and runs Friday 10am to 9pm, Saturday 10am to 8pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. More information on the show can be found on their website.

Ackles and her team began work over a week ago and has been hard at it getting the car ready for the show. Her crew, which is included but not limited to Nicolas Baker, Phil Crisp and Blake Montford helped sand and paint the car on the weekend, with the final coats of pink going on the car Monday evening. Even TCM’s own Tim Terry got his hands dirty sanding and painting the car, along with helping acquire tires for the car. In 2014, the Thunder teams at Scotia Speedworld are required to run on 2013 or older dated Federal INEX Legend tires.

The team would like to thank one of our TCM partners in Dulux Paints Bayers Lake for helping with an oil based pink paint for the car and roll cage. The team has also gone to Finish Line Vinyl Design for the vinyl work on the car, which will be placed on the car on Thursday prior to show open on Friday. Finish Line Vinyl Design is also a partner of Tim’s Corner Motorsports as the Official Print Supplier of Tim’s Corner Motorsports.

Here is a picture of the paint party that was held Monday evening in their shop. The finished product will be on display Friday when the doors swing open at Exhibition Park for the Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show!

Oh, and this is also only one car coming out of this stable for the 2014 season, more on that as the season gets closer.
