SPEEDWAY 660 SNOWMOBILE DRAGS – FEB 22nd
Speedway 660 is gearing up for a Snowmobile Drag Racing event on Saturday, February 22nd. Classes will include 500-1000 stock and improved along with King of the Speedway. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth (5 to 15 years) and children under five will be admitted free. Drivers are to pay $15 per class they enter and there will be a canteen on site.
Oh – and the length of the drag? You guessed it – 660 feet!

A full 2014 Speedway 660 schedule is coming very soon, but we can tell you we will be starting our season at 660 in 2014 with the Riverview Ford Lincoln season opener taking place on Sunday, May 11th at 2pm – which marks the first track in the region to open for the 2014 season! PETTY RELEASES 2014 RULES
Petty International Raceway has released their 2014 rules after their rules meetings in January.
The release of these rules give the public the first look at the Maritime Sportsman Rules Amendments for 2014, including the 1:1 final drive option rule and changes to fueling among other amendments. The amendments are as follows and can be found accompanying the rulebook below.
Gear Rule:A 1:1 final drive will be allowed as an option for 2014. This will be achieved with the existing steel cased 3 speed transmission and a final drive is not to exceed 5.50:1. The 3 speed transmission must not have a second gear ratio closer to 1:1 than 1.50:1. The rear end may use a solid steel spool or a mini spool. Axles must be steel. No gun drilled axles allowed. All drivetrain components must be steel. A 100lb penalty will be assessed to the 1:1 final drive option.Rear Suspension:Rear OEM/Aftermarket trailing arms must remain in stock position on frame and rear end housing. No slotted or elongated mounting holes. Only one mounting hole allowed at each mounting location.Front Suspension:Any sway bar must be factory stock OEM. Front sway bar may have adjustable links. Stock sway bars must be secured at OEM original frame location. Pedestal sway bar mounting allowed. No threaded adjusters allowed at frame mounting. The outboard ends of the sway bar must be mounted to the lower control arms in the original OEM position (above the control arm). Spacers and/or adjustable links may be used between the sway bar ends and the lower control arms. No droop limiters or ANY other added components to the front suspension.Carburetor Spacer:1” straight through, no tapering, no steps, no oval: STRAIGHT THROUGH.Safety:A recessed fuel filler MUST be placed on rear deck at the base of the rear window or the drivers side rear quarter panel. A check-valve (flapper) must be used at the top of the tank as well as a check-valve installed in the vent hose which must exit through the rear bumper cover. As the filler is outside the body, you must still have a functioning full width trunk lid.NOTE: This rule is being imposed to prevent a possible fire hazard when refueling the cars on the track or in the pits.
PRO STOCK PREVIEW – BUTCHER RACING
It’s been a busy off-season at Butcher Racing!
While the team has been busy preparing for 2014 INEX Winter Nationals at Auburndale Speedway next month at Winter Haven, Florida, their Pro Stock effort for 2014 is also coming along well, as can be seen in the feature picture (after body was hung) and below (prior to body). Cole Butcher will enter his sophomore season on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in 2014 while also running the Weekly Racing Series at Scotia Speedworld in his Legend car, battling with his brother Jarrett for the championship in a division he has won the last two championships in.
INEX Winter Nationals take place from February 17th to 21st.
CENTRE FOR SPEED RELEASES SCHEDULE DETAILS
While schedules for race tracks in the region begin to trickle out, the CENTRE For Speed outside of Shediac, New Brunswick had the distinction of releasing their full schedule first in November. The track has since released more information about the schedule;
Jan 29, 2014 – Shediac’s CENTRE for Speed is pleased to announce it will hold 4 regular season stock car events in 2014. The Four events will make up the speedways Maritime Stock Car Series. Each event will feature the three classes in 50 to 75 lap features, plus qualifying races. Points will be calculated to determine an overall Series Champions at the final event of the season. A points fund is expected to be announced prior to the start of the season. The first event is scheduled for June 14th followed by events on July 19th, August 16th, and the finale on for Sept 13. The annual Atlantic Stock Championships will follow in October. Details of the annual Championships will be announced as finalized.
