POLL: Who Wins Speedworld Thunder Title in 2014?

Whether you notice it or not, there’s a trend beginning to form in the ACE Lumbermart Thunder class at Scotia Speedworld.

In the past four years, the popular Honda Civic class at Scotia Speedworld has seen four different champions, each of whom won their first track championship by taking the prestigious Four Cylinder title. With the drivers earning the nickname as “the BEST Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada,” it has become one of the toughest divisions in which to win a Scotia Speedworld track championship. In turn, the track has bred some of the best drivers in the region, with Speedworld drivers taking 2013 year end shows at New Brunswick’s Petty Raceway, CENTRE For Speed and Speedway Miramichi.

The question is – does the trend end in 2014, or do we have another first time champion next September?

There are some pretty good cases to keep the pattern going. Drivers the likes of Kyle Gammon and Drew MacEachern have yet to win a track championship, while if the likes of Andrew Cluett and Atlantic Champion Scott Williams run full-time in the class, they could extend the first time title streak to five. Not to mention, there will another couple handfuls worth of drivers looking to prove a point (or about a thousand of them that are usually needed to win a championship at the Speedworld) in 2014.

Tim goes a bit deeper into this next week in an upcoming “Tim’s Corner” piece for ScotiaSpeedworld.ca, but we want to get your thought on whether you think there will be a repeat champion in 2014? Your choices include 2013 titlists and 2011 runner up Matthew Warren, 2012 champion and three time feature winner in 2013 Kyle MacMillan, 2011 champion and 2013 runner up and three time feature winner Dave Matthews, 2010 champion and 2013’s highest handicap in the Thunder division Stevie Lively, or two-time Thunder champ and 2013 feature winner Tim Webster. If you think we’ll have another first time champion, the other option is yours to choose! It should be noted – all former champions in this poll won at least one main feature at Scotia Speedworld in this past season, putting all five on the top of their game heading into 2014.

So, let’s hear it, do we have a repeat champion at Scotia Speedworld in 2014 or not? Do we have another name etched into the history books alongside the likes of MacCallum, Webster, Zwicker and Arsenault as multi-time Four Cylinder champions? Vote below!
