Tim's Corner Unplugged
TCM Turns One Today!
We at Tim’s Corner Motorsports never like to toot our own horn, but we will blow it once on this day. October 27th, 2011 was the official launch date of TimsCorner.ca, the home of Tim’s Corner Motorsports. One year, 44 race events, three practice days, three demolitions, two banquets, a car show and a wedding later, we feel we have come a long way.
We’ve produced 49 Tim’s Corner Unplugged episodes (with 50 and 51 on the horizon) and interviewed hundreds of drivers, including race winners and champions from 2012. We’ve even had Sprint Cup Series winners “Tiger” Tom Pistone, Sterling Marlin and Joey Logano on our airwaves! In all, TCM has produced over 32 hours of original audio content over the past 365 days, something we are truly proud of.
Though there’s no official count, TCM has roughly gone through over 600 stickers this season. A majority of those have gone on race cars and trucks in the region and have been in victory lane in the biggest races and series in Atlantic Canada, including John Flemming’s IWK 250 win, Shawn Turple’s Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour championship and even two Canadian INEX Bandolero titles won by Cole Boudreau and Braden Langille. Thank you to everyone who ran decals on their race cars, street cars, crash carts, pit boxes and golf carts this season!
Speaking of Langille, TCM has grown with a list of website clients over the past year. Braden Langille Motorsports, O’Blenis Motorsports, Cole Tanner Racing, Chad Windsor and Luke Ettinger Racing are among those who trusted TCM this season and we hope to grow that list this winter! If you are looking for a website, watch for a special to pop up around Christmas time.
Without the cooperation of race tracks throughout the region, TCM could not dedicate the coverage it does to Atlantic Canadian racing. A big thanks this season goes out to the folks at Speedway Miramichi, Petty International Raceway, Speedway 660, Oyster Bed Speedway, Riverside International Speedway, Scotia Speedworld, Centre for Speed and the NSPE Demolition Derby for their support of the website and for letting me cover their events. I ask that you please support these race tracks and their programs when you can.
If it wasn’t for advertising partners, TimsCorner.ca would be deep in the red. Cannon Security Inc., KCS Buy and Sell, Murphy’s Fish and Chips, Speedway 660, Oyster Bed Speedway, Speedway Miramichi, Centre for Speed, ZSport Canada and Pizza Delight Amherst have each played a role in bringing the coverage to you this season and I invite you over to the Partners Page of this site to take a look at their products and services.
Four special groups played a huge role this season in the growth of Tim’s Corner Motorsports. Days Inn Oromocto was our first partner we signed in 2012 and became our “Official Fredericton Area Accommodations Partner of TimsCorner.ca.” Speed Signs Inc. and Pointe Design Group provided the aforementioned stickers throughout the season and Speed Signs Inc. played a big role in putting a sticker on Deven Smith’s championship winning Neon in September.
If it wasn’t for Mark and Lori Williams at RacingTrader.ca, this website may not have grown to what it is today. It was on a trip to Peterborough, Ontario for the 2011 Autumn Colours Classic event that the wheels began turning on starting something like this after the idea was brought up by Joe Chisholm of Race Time Radio on the Sunday of that weekend. Less than three weeks later, TimsCorner.ca was born. It was also from Mark and Lori that the RacingSpectator.ca name was transferred from, bringing in a new era for that website and bringing their loyal readers to TimsCorner.ca.
On the sim racing side, Derek Speare Designs and iRacing.com have each provided give away prizes in the past year and am happy to announce they are back on board for 2013. In fact, watch for a “one year anniversary” giveaway from DSD and TCM in the next week or so! Every sim racer that has ran the logo or has been a part of a Tim’s Corner Motorsports sponsored event, whether it be in GSR or the Late Model Championships or the Tim’s Corner Challenge – I thank each and every one of you!
There are so many individuals and groups I have to thank that if I leave you out, I apologize. I mentioned Joe Chisholm and the crew from Race Time Radio for giving me the idea to get this thing going and for the mentions and plugs on their show. Nick Storey from 95.7 The Wolf/Energy Hour in Fredericton has also been kind in promoting the site. Cyril Hall (Petty International Raceway), Wade Wilson (Speedway 660), Jeremy MacDonald (Oyster Bed Speedway), Jerry Lawrence (Riverside International Speedway) and Mike Kaplan (Maritime League of Legends/Centre for Speed) have each been kind enough to promote the site during their announcing duties at their tracks and cannot thank them enough and I once again look forward to working with them in 2013. Todd Gillis and the Herald Wheels section dropped the site name in my Maritime Motorsports columns at the end of the year. Auto Atlantic has also given me the chance to write for them and I thank them for that opportunity.
Greg Turner from Radical Speedsport was big in letting me cover that event in 2012 and look forward to working with him and his staff in 2013. When it comes to photos, Matt Jacques Photography, Speedshots.ca, Ken’s Racing Photos, Scott Sinclair, Pat Healey from the Weekly Press and Lamrock Photography have each contributed to the site in 2012 and the site wouldn’t be the same without your work.
If it wasn’t for the graphical work from JD Laird and Josh Connors along with the website handy work of Paul Strickland Jr., it would have been more difficult to get through year one. Jana Thompson, Jon Bonin, Lindsay and Lukas Lamrock have each given me a place to lay my head after a race if I needed it along with support whenever I needed it.

The staff at the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, Scotia Speedworld and the NAPA Sportsman Series deserve a lot of credit as well for letting me do this on the side before/after my job as announcer for those sanctioning bodies. Jason Carnahan, who also celebrates a birthday today, has been a big supporter of TCM and I’ve been honored to cover what he has done in Miramichi with that track. Happy Birthday Jason – here’s to a successful 2013!
Again, I’m sure I’m forgetting someone but I will be adding to this and the Facebook post of this story with those names. In the end, this would not be possible without you, the loyal readers and listeners to Tim’s Corner Motorsports, TimsCorner.ca and Tim’s Corner Unplugged. You have each made this what it has grown to today and I cannot wait to continue this journey with you through 2013!
I’ve look at the suggestions made during the TCM Best of Maritime Awards voting and I see what you want more of and I’m going to work towards that in 2013 with more driver profiles, more photos and more coverage of series and events. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for the site – email me at comments@timscorner.ca and I will look at it for 2013.
Until next time, keep the hammer down and we’ll see you at the track!
