September Schedule Shuffle for Petty, Miramichi

Management at Petty International Raceway and Speedway Miramichi have had their dancing shoes on the past few weeks when it comes to shuffling around their September stock car shows.
After a ton of rain this season that has caused headaches throughout the stock car scene in the region, management at Petty Raceway announced that they would be adding a September point event to their schedule to close off their 2013 season. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 14th – the same day as the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour finale at Scotia Speedworld, which also includes races for the house Sportsman and Bandolero classes. Not only did the decision make fans scratch their heads a bit as to where they would want to go on September 14th, but it also had Bandolero teams scrambling to find replacement drivers for one track or another to keep them up in the points (seven of the 13 full time Bandolero teams at Petty come from Scotia Speedworld’s Hydraulics Plus Bandolero division).
Since making the announcement at the end of July, Petty Raceway has announced (and has changed their schedule to reflect the move) that they will now contest their finale on Saturday, September 21st at 4pm as opposed to Saturday, September 14th.
Wait a minute though.
When schedules were released prior to the season beginning, Speedway Miramichi announced their major September show would take place on Saturday, September 21st. A change on their website though has them now running on Saturday, September 14th. It still creates a conflict with fans and drivers wanting to see or race both events at Scotia Speedworld and now Speedway Miramichi, but with the Miramichi race being an open show, it at least gives those drivers running for points at the Speedworld an easier decision on where they are going on that night.
As a sidenote, no stock car racing track in Atlantic Canada is racing on the weekend of Saturday, September 28th. Maybe they know their forecasts far enough in advance that they’ll have to use that as a rain date?! The biggest race currently scheduled on that weekend? The PASS North Finale at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Of course, for those fans wanting to listen in to the race at the Speedworld, Race Time Radio will be covering the Dartmouth Dodge 200 on September 14th.
So, let’s recap!
