After Mother Nature forced the Maritime League of Legends Tour to postpone Round Two of their season of Petty International Raceway on June 1st, the cars and stars of the popular touring series will be back in action at the River Glade, New Brunswick bullring on Saturday for the Atlantic Tiltload 50. Though there has been over a month between the original date for the race and the July 13th running of the event, the race will still mark the second of nine scheduled rounds on the Maritime League of Legends Tour.
Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) is the point leader on the series after winning the first race of the season at Scotia Speedworld on May 19th. Matt Moore of Falmouth, Nova Scotia is second in the standings, three points up on “Miss Rawdon Rocket” Emily Meehan. Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS) and Scott Cunning (Halifax, NS) complete the top five in the standings after Round One. MacNeill is the defending champion of the Atlantic Tiltload 50 at Petty Raceway.
Harry Breimer Jr of Stewiacke, Nova Scotia has a slim two point lead on Graeme Bishop of Moncton, New Brunswick in the Rookie of the Year standings with one race in the books. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) was set to make his debut in June at Petty and was quick in practice before rain halted the show prior to qualifying.
Bishop, Darren Sherwood (Berry Mills, NB) and Kyle Campbell (Salisbury, NB) will be looking to successfully defend their home turf on Saturday against the best Legend car drivers in the Maritimes. Over a dozen others are expected to vie for the prestigious second round on the 2013 campaign.
The Atlantic Tiltload 50 begins a three race stretch for the series which will see the Tour attack the track at Riverside International Speedway on July 19th as a part of their annual IWK 250 Super Weekend before heading back to the province of New Brunswick on July 27th for a 50-lap feature at Shedaic’s CENTRE For Speed.
The racing action for the night, which is headlined by the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour’s Fast Eddie Racewear 100, begins at 6pm with qualifying for the Pro Stocks, Legends and Petty Raceway Bandoleros. Tickets are available at the gate on raceday. For more event information, check out PettyRaceway.com.
