It was a night of jam packed excitement and entertainment at the Oyster Bed Speedway this past Saturday. The night featured some tempers boiling over, payback and white knuckle side-by side racing. In what turned out to be the most talked about part of the night the always eventful Street Stock division a heat race set off some fireworks and had two black flags wave before the twelve lap race was concluded. In the opening laps Mike Duskey saw an opening between two cars and attempted to slide his car through. Unable to get through, the cars got entangled in one and other sending Emmett Donahue into the wall. Duskey continued to have trouble follow him when the race resumed he caught up to Dave Constable. It appeared Duskey’s car was a bit faster and he began to bump him from behind. When Constable finally saw Dusky passing him he turned his car into him spinning Duskey into the infield. Both drivers were awarded a black flag for their actions. Constable exited the track first and Duskey was sure to catch up to him giving him one last tap before pulling into his pit stall. For this Duskey was ordered by track officials to sit the rest of the night out.
Overall in the Street Stock division sophomore driver Matt Boyle cleaned up with a triple win. His best performance of his career so far as he was also able to hold off charges from defending champion Nick Chaisson in the feature. Chaisson scored a win earlier in the night as did Kent Livingston. Another sophomore driver Alex Sheehan continued to put up solid finishes posting a second in a heat and a third in the feature.
The car count in the Modified division was at the highest we saw all year and that division didn’t seem to disappoint either. Heading into the feature it looked as though nobody would be able to touch Robbie MacEwen as he easily grabbed a pair of heat wins. In the feature MacEwen once again took over the lead and began to dominate as he did in the earlier heat races. It took 18 laps for Brodie MacQuarrie to finally catch up to him. Once he did, MacQuarrie eased his car underneath MacEwen and the two ran side by side for another six laps. Both drivers continued to hit their marks until eventually MacQuarrie’s car was too much for MacEwen and he was able to grab the checkered flag for the feature win.
Both the Four Fun and Outlaw division opened up their super series. In the extended outlaw feature, Defending division/super series champion James Doucette took home the win, his second of the night.
In the Four Fun super series it looked as though division leader Jeff Gallant was going to easily grab the feature until mechanical difficulties forced him to retire paving the way for Keaton Vessey to grab the win.
