(BEDFORD, NS – June 7th, 2022) – For the first time since August 2019, the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour will return to Riverside International Speedway. The Superior Foundations 50 is Round Three of 12 on the 2022 schedule and first of two stops at the James River, Nova Scotia track on the Series. Racing begins on Saturday, June 11th at 4pm.
Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) has shown the way in the first two Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour races of 2022. After a dominating performance at Speedway 660, Chisholm and the No. 87 Eastern Powder Coatings/Bruce Auto Group Legend car took control on a late choose style restart at Petty International Raceway last Saturday to cruise on to victory. While Chisholm has a lot of laps since his last start at Riverside International Speedway, his best career finish at the high banked 1/3-mile oval is sixth in August 2019.
Continuing the youth movement on the Series, Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) and Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) enter Saturday’s Superior Foundations 50 tied for second in the standings after two races. Both have runner-up finishes to kick off the season. Gilby, the leading rookie on the Tour, will make his Riverside International Speedway debut while Langille has four top tens in five starts at Saturday’s host venue.
Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) was well on his way to a second career Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour victory last Saturday night at Petty Raceway before a no fault caution set the No. 66 back in the restart lineup after leading the C.A.R.S. Automotive 50. Mahar, who won an EIT Race Radios Heat Race along with his father Daryl (Hubley, NS) last week, will look to continue to move up the standings in his Riverside Speedway debut this Saturday. Like Mahar, rookie Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) will make his Riverside debut and sits fifth in the standings after two events on the Series.
Eleven drivers have competed in both Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour races so far in 2022, which include six rookie contenders. The Superior Foundations 50 is the third of three races on consecutive weekends to kick off the Tour and is the last tune-up ahead of the Round Six at Riverside on Friday, July 22nd as a part of the IWK 250 Super Weekend.
