CORMIER CASHES IN ON $4K STREET STOCK PAYDAY; CHISHOLM WINS SECOND STRAIGHT ON CROSS ROADS LEGENDS TOUR

Track Release/Photo by Tanya Everett Photography

(RIVER GLADE, NB – June 5th, 2022) – Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) picked up where he left off in 2021 with the Maritime Street Stock Series. The defending Series champion took home the Old Fashion Meat Market 100 for Stuff Your Stuff Commercial Storage Street Stocks on Saturday afternoon at Petty International Raceway. The win was the first on the season for the former track champion at the River Glade, New Brunswick.

Cormier had to work his way around Logan Power (Riverview, NB), who was able to take the lead from Cormier on a late race restart. Once Cormier got back around Power, he was able to set sail with the victory, which was worth a cool $4,000 payday for the No. 68 Moncton Chrysler Dodge Street Stock. Power was second, followed by Kenny MacKenzie Jr (Salisbury, NB). Brad MacLean (Black River, NB) and Riley Goodwin (McAdam, NB) completed the top five in the 15-car field.

Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) drove to the win in the C.A.R.S. Automotive 50 for the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour on Saturday evening at Petty Raceway. Chisholm, coming off the win in the Samuel, Son & Co. 50 a week prior at Speedway 660, raced away from the field on the final choose style restart to seal the win. Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) made the final restart work for him and captured his first Tour podium of the year with a runner-up finish. Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) challenged for the runner-up spot but had to settle for third at the checkered flag. Rookie of the Race Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) and Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for their second top five runs in as many races. Owen and his father Daryl Mahar (Hubley, NS) took home EIT Race Radios Heat Races.

Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) and Ethan Hicken (New Glasgow, NS) were winners in Leisure Days RV Bandolero competition. Hicken was able to cruise to the victory in the Beginner Bandolero division, gapping Hailey Bland (Lakeview, NS) by five seconds at the finish. Hudson Ruff was third with Mandi Lee and Wyatt Peters finishing in the top five. Christensen almost threw the Bandolero Outlaw feature away after overdriving his No. 24 car in the final corner with Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) hot on his heels. MacKay had to settle for second, followed by Caden Tufts (Halifax, NS), Chase Livingston (Springhill, NS) and Aiden MacDonald (Charlottetown, PE).

Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) inherited the lead of the Cummins 150 with 29 laps remaining and held on to take his second straight East Coast International Pro Stock Tour victory. Slaunwhite was third when both Cole Butcher (Hantsport, NS) and Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton, NB) experienced mechanical issues with their cars. Russell Smith Jr. (Lakeside, NS) and Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) joined Slaunwhite on the podium. A full recap and results of the race can be found at MaritimeProStockTour.com.

The next event for Petty International Raceway is the River Glade International Weekend on June 17th and 18th – highlighted by a 100-lap Late Model Sportsman feature and a 150-lap Pro Stock/Super Late Model show on Saturday, June 18th.
