The Iconic #8 Dodge from Prince Edward Island will miss the East Coast International Maritime Pro Stock Tour Season Opener. The 2000 MASCAR rookie of the year Kent Vincent will step back this season after 31 years of racing.
The two-time IWK 250 champion started racing in 1990 claiming 4 modified championships. Vincent quickly moved up the ranks in the the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour where he captured multiple wins and currently retains the tours title as the “Most Favourite Driver” as voted on
by fans.
In 2015 Vincent was awarded the “Iron Man Award” and is the only driver to date to have never missed a single race or points event for 30 consecutive years of competition.
Vincent is not using the word “retirement” but rather refers to this season as taking a break. “I would like to spend more time with my family this summer and enjoy some things I have had to skip over the years being at the racetrack.”
Team Partner Trevor Lambe and his wife are expecting a second child next month and long-time partner and sponsor Donnie Garnier is also focusing on his new Tire Tire Canada Location in Truro.
VLG Racing is currently preparing a race car with the expectation of entering the IWK250 this July at Riverside Speedway with Vincent behind the wheel.
