The back of Ed LeBlanc’s race car says its all – “Always Smiling.”
LeBlanc was announced on Wednesday as the EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero Award In Memory of Robert Tomlinson. While he is still early in his racing career at Lake Doucette Motor Speedway, LeBlanc shows many traits that Tomlinson did in his racing career. Putting a positive attitude forward toward the sport, regardless whether in good times or bad, LeBlanc kept his head up and a smile on his face, even through an up and down rookie Late Model Sportsman season.
LeBlanc, a fan for many years, is always quick to acknowledge the fans and their importance to the sport, whether through fan appreciation autograph sessions, burnouts on Fun Day or displays at sponsors to help promote the sport. Even with COVID-19 restrictions, LeBlanc was able to get out in his community, display his car, meet fans and bring awareness to the sport of stock car racing, his team and his sponsors.
After spending a pair of full time seasons in a Four Cylinder car, the 2021 season marked a full time year in a Late Model Sportsman. It was baptism by fire as he quickly learned the basics of Sportsman racing. His perseverance was shown during Fun Day, when after a heat race wreck seemingly sidelined him for the day, his crew worked hard to put his car together for him to put on a show for the fans post race. While the results might not have been what LeBlanc wanted, he made up in heart and his positive outlook.
For LeBlanc, racing is a family affair. His father, Ed Senior, races a Four Cylinder car at Lake Doucette. His mother, wife and six kids are all a part of his racing team through his pit crew and cheering section.
Congratulations to Ed LeBlanc on being named the recipient of the EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero Award In Memory of Robert Tomlinson. LeBlanc will receive a package from EIT Race Radios to commemorate the honor.
