CREAMER COMPLETES SEASON WITH WIN AT SYDNEY’S SOFT LAUNCH

Track Release

(SYDNEY, NS – October 31st, 2021) – Brady Creamer (Miramichi, NB) raced his way to the win in the Saf-way Auto Parts and Robby’s Towing Late Model Sportsman 100 Saturday afternoon at Sydney Speedway. Creamer, one of five New Brunswick Late Model drivers to make the six plus hour haul to Cape Breton Island, battled early in the race with hometown favorite Chris Reid (Sydney, NS) before pulling away over a 53-lap green flag run to the finish of the race.

Once Creamer set sail in the second half of the 100-lap feature, Reid settled into a battle for over a dozen laps with two-time and defending race winner Laurie Cormier (Riverview, NB) before Cormier’s car gave up in the late laps. Dustin Tucker (Darling’s Island, NB), who started on pole in the feature, held in the top five for the duration of the event and would wind up in third. Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) was able to get by Cormier in the closing laps to take fifth place.

Heat races for the Saf-way Auto Parts and Robby’s Towing 100 were won by Tucker and Jerome Kehoe (Sydney, NS). Kehoe and Ross Lewis (Prime Brook, NS) returned to Sportsman competition at their home track on Saturday after lengthy hiatuses from racing.

Stacey Clements (Hubley, NS) edged out Pat Lawrence (Halifax, NS) for the victory in the Anchor Toyota Monster Mash presented by Jeff Landry Auto Body. It was the first time the Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Classics powered by Conrad Bros had visited the quarter-mile bullring on Grand Lake Road. “The Quarantine Demon” Jim Rankin was third in the race.

Kody Quinn (Sydney, NS) continued his dominance in the Mini Stock class with the win in The Deadly Welder 75. The race went caution free and only left three cars on the lead lap when the checkered flag flew from Art Steeves. Donnie Pratt (Moncton, NB) returned to his home track with his own race car to finish second with 2019 East Coast Mini Stock Tour Rookie of the Year Darrell Hulme (Howie Center, NS) in third. Brian Axworthy (North Sydney, NS) crossed the line in second but failed post race technical inspection. Eighteen cars started the afternoon in competition, including two from Prince Edward Island and a pair from New Brunswick.

RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock 250 champion Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) had the Louie’s Cosy Corner Legend 50 in hand from the get go on Saturday afternoon. Hall led the race pilar to post over Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) and Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS), who battled hard at the end of the race for the runner-up position.

Caden Tufts (Timberlea, NS) rebounded from a rough first Bandolero feature to take home the second. He and Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) had a spirited battle in the first 15-lap segment presented by Petty International Raceway before they came together, handing the lead to Campbell Delaney (Halifax, NS) at the checkered in the first stanza. Delaney would be second to Tufts in the second half, ahead of MacKay in third.

JT Turnbull (Dominion, NS) was the winner in the rebirth of the Russell W. Hawkins Limited V6 THUNDER division at Sydney Speedway. Turnbull was able to get a lead in the 30-lap feature over Sam Burke (Glace Bay, NS) and not look back for the victory. Jamie Peach (Sydney, NS) charged hard at the end but wound up third when the checkered flag came out.
