Tucker Races to First Tour Win in Atlantic Oliver Tire 200
Series Release
(Halifax, NS – September 25, 2021) Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton, NB) picked up his first career victory on the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour this evening at the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200. Tucker, who has been a stand-out since his first appearance with the Series in 2018, battled the entire race to stand atop the podium. Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) hung tight all race and picked up second place, followed by Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) in third. Current points leader Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) missed the podium for the first time this season coming home fourth. 2018 Rookie of Year Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) rounded out the top five. The race marked round eight of nine for the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour.
Cole Butcher (Hantsport, NS) broke a clutch in the opening laps of the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200 and was unable to finish the race. Slaunwhite was able to capitalize on Butcher’s misfortune and increased his championship points lead from eight to 42.
Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS), Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) won their Atlantic Tiltload heat races which set the field for the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200. Ashton Tucker took home the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger award. The race was slowed by seven cautions and saw three lead changes.
Following the event Tucker was awarded with the first inaugural Jim Hallahan Memorial Cup. The Cup will be awarded to the winner of the 200-lap event each season. Liz Hallahan and Jim’s Grandsons Ryan and Tyler were on hand to present the very special award every driver will want their name inscribed on.
The Maritime League of Legends ran their season finale prior to the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200. Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) won the 40-lap feature followed by Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) and Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS).
The East Coast Mini Stock Tour kicked off the racing card and put on a great show for fans. Matt Watson (Summerside, PE) was the winner following technical inspection with 2021 champion Dave Matthews (Nine Mile River, NS) and Ryan McKnight (Sussex, NB) rounding out the podium.
