Cormier Takes First Round in Five Race Maritime Street Stock Series

Hometown favorite Michael Cormier of Grand-Barachois, NB took home the first round in the Maritime Street Stock Series, the Johnston’s Enterprises Winsloe Irving & Bakery 100 at the CENTRE For Speed on Sunday. Cormier made a last lap pass on Brad MacLean (Black River, NB) to take the first 50 lap segment. The nine car field was inverted after the first 50-laps and Cormier wasted little time getting to the front but had his hands full with James Matchett (Miramichi, NB). Matchett and Cormier raced side-by-side for dozens of laps before Cormier took advantage in the late stages.

Cormier also took home the heat race for the Street Stocks.

The next race in the five race Maritime Street Stock Series is scheduled for Saturday, August 7th at Petty International Raceway in the $5k Stuff Your Stuff Storage Street Stock 100.
