Smith Wins Lafarge Aggregates 150

Russell Smith Jr was the big winner of the afternoon at Petty International Raceway, taking the LaFarge Aggregates and Concrete 150 to open the season at the River Glade, New Brunswick track. He held off Matt Maillet and Ken Mackenzie, who battled for second at the end.

The main feature was plagued with a rash of cautions in the first half, which depleted the field from 27 at the start of the heat races to low double digits at the end of the feature.

The Street Stock feature stole the show as Martin Landry took the win by inches over Kenny MacKenzie Jr. In impressive fashion, Landry overtook many of his spots on the way to the front on the outside lane. MacKenzie’s girlfriend Alex O’Blenis was third. MacKenzie took his first PIR win in the heat.

Mike Weagle took the Mister Transmission Mini Stock race, holding off a hard charging Brad Daley while Drew Greenlaw outlasted a challenge from Ryan Messer to take the Leisure Days RV Bandolero feature.

The next race weekend for Petty Raceway is May 31st and June 1st. The Saturday night card will feature the Fast Eddie Racewear 100, a part of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, which kicks off their season tomorrow at Scotia Speedworld.
