LUCAS OIL 150 SET TO LAUNCH 2013 PRO STOCK TOUR SEASON THIS SUNDAY AT SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD
(Halifax, NS, May 14, 2013) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will open another sensational season of stock car racing this Sunday at Scotia Speedworld with the Lucas Oil 150. The season opener will launch the 12-race schedule that will take the Tour to five Maritime markets over the next 17 weeks. Thirty of the best teams from across the region are expected to battle for a spot in Sunday’s feature event. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 150 gets underway at 3:10 PM with racing slated for 4:00 PM. Grandstands gates open at 1:00 PM.
Three returning series champions are expected to be in the field this Sunday. Two-time champion (2009, ‘12) Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) enters the Lucas Oil 150 as reigning champ and will begin his quest for back-to-back titles. Three-time series champion (2002, ’03, ’06) John Flemming (Halifax, NS) knows something about back-to back titles as he is the only driver to ever accomplish this feat in the Tour’s 11-year history. Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) is another three-time champion (2004, ’07, ’10) and rounds out the trio of champs who will be contending for the win this weekend at Scotia Speedworld.
The Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year battle will get kick-started at Sunday’s Lucas Oil 150. With a huge field expected for the season opener these rookies will have to rely on their impressive racing resumes to make the big show. Colby Smith (Cable Sable Island, NS) will make his third start on the Tour. Smith is a former Scotia Speedworld and NAPA Sportsman Series Champion and will pilot the No. 77 entry. Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) took home the Strictly Hydraulics Legends Championship as well as the Maritime League of Legends Tour title in 2012. Butcher will be at the helm of the No. 53 this season. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) is also a former Strictly Hydraulics Legend Series and Maritime League of Legends Champion and has one career start in the No. 67 on the Pro Stock Tour. Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit, NS) is a two-time Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman Series Champion; Dillman will attempt to make his first career Tour start in the No. 08 at Sunday’s Lucas Oil 150.
Canadian recording artist John Gracie will kick off the day’s festivities with a performance of the national anthem. The Maritime League of Legends Tour will then take centre stage in their season opener 50-lap feature prior to the main event. Be sure to arrive early as the first 100 people through the grandstand gates will receive a free gift from Lucas Oil!

Admission for Sunday’s Season Opener Lucas Oil 150 is $25.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth; pit admission is $30.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free.
