BUSTING BUBBLES FOR A SECOND TIME SATURDAY AT PETTY RACEWAY

Pro Stocks return for a second 150-lap show presented by Brycon Construction

(RIVER GLADE, NB – July 15th, 2020) – On the heels of a successful Brycon Construction “Bubble Buster” event at the beginning of July, Petty International Raceway is back in action Saturday evening with the second installment of the Bubble Buster. The Brycon Construction “Bubble Buster” Round Two will see over 20 of the region’s top Pro Stock drivers compete for the glory of a feature victory at the high banked bullring. Playing support for the Brycon Construction Pro Stock 150 includes a 100-lap Street Stock feature presented by Westwood Estates, the Mister Transmission Mini Stocks in a 50-lap feature and the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros. Racing gets underway at 6pm on Saturday, July 18th.

The early season storyline in the Province when it comes to Pro Stock racing has been the budding and friendly on track rivalry between Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) and Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton, NB). Hicken and Tucker have both been on the podium in the last two Super Late Model/Pro Stock shows at Petty, with Hicken having the advantage owning wins in both the 2019 Mike Stevens Memorial and the 2020 Brycon Construction Bubble Buster Round One. The pair competed at Speedway 660 last weekend during the Riverview Ford Lincoln 100 with Tucker scoring his first win of 2020 in convincing fashion. They now head back to “Hicken’s House” with Tucker looking to stop the streak of the No. 5 Chapman Brothers Construction team.

While a lot of eyes will be on Hicken and Tucker, twenty more teams will look to write the headlines for themselves on Saturday. As pre-entries continue to roll in, 16 of the 18 starters from the first round of the Brycon Construction Bubble Buster have signaled their intent to compete on Saturday. For drivers like Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS), Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), all of whom have won in Pro Stock competition at the track, they will look to do better on their top five runs from two weeks ago and hold the checkered flag at the finish. On the other side of the coin, Ryan Messer (Harvey, NB) will look to put mechanical gremlins behind him suffered on the pace lap two weeks ago to put his No. 1 car to the front.

Several teams will look to make their Petty International Raceway season debut this weekend, including 2011 River Glade International Champion Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE), 2019 Irving Blending & Packaging 150 podium finisher Steve Halpin (Saint John, NB), 2019 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Rookie of the Year “The Thrillmaker” Craig Ward (Riverview, NB), multi-time Oyster Bed Speedway feature winner Mark LeClair (Brackley Beach, PE), former NAPA Sportsman Series champions Chris and Kyle Reid (Sydney, NS), Devin Snell (Saint John, NB), Nevin Scott (Marshfield, PE) and Mike Duskey (Albany, PE).

The Street Stocks will take to the track in their first extended distance race of the Summer with a 100-lap feature presented by Westwood Estates. Riley Goodwin (McAdam, NB) scored his first Petty International Raceway Street Stock win during the “Kick the COVID-19 Pandemic” Race Day at the end of June and will look to back that up with a win Saturday.

With the Atlantic Bubble formed, the Mister Transmission Mini Stock division will welcome the top drivers in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick back to Petty International Raceway to compete in a 50-lap feature. Rob Poirier (Irishtown, NB) and Mike Edwards (Penobsquis, NB) battled it out in June for the win at Petty Raceway with Poirier coming out on top. The Leisure Days RV Bandoleros will round out the card a Beginner feature and a combined Bandit/Outlaw event.

Fans and teams are reminded to practice social distancing throughout the Brycon Construction “Bubble Buster” and a complete list of updated COVID-19 restrictions in regards to Petty Raceway can be viewed online at www.PettyRaceway.com.

Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s event are $30 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 18, while children seven years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $35 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Pit gates for Pro Stock competitors open at 11:30am with support classes opening at 12:30pm, grandstand gates open for spectators at 4pm with racing getting underway with Pro Stock Time Trials at 6pm. Camping is available on a first come, first serve basis. There will be an open practice for competitors on Friday evening from 5pm to dusk. Cost for the Friday night practice is $10 per person.

Tim’s Corner Motorsports and their TCMtv crew will be at Petty International Raceway to produce a video on-demand episode of the Brycon Construction Bubble Buster Round Two racing card. Their coverage will be available beginning the following Tuesday, July 21st with a Video On Demand pass to the event at www.timscorner.tv.
