COVID-19: (UPDATED May 25th) Cancellations, Postponements and Suspensions Around Atlantic Canada

With provincial and federal restrictions in place during the COVID-19 pandemic this Spring and into the Summer months, it is taking its toll on race tracks and series in Atlantic Canada.
Here are the current news from tracks and series in regards to event announcements in the region.
UPDATED MAY 25th
Lake Doucette Motor Speedway – “SEASON OPENER POSTPONED” – The SouthWest Stock Car Association has postponed their season opener until further notice. The SWSCA also announced their 2020 season passes would also be valid for the 2021 season.
2020 Season Update:
On May 15th the Nova Scotia Government extended the state of emergency to at least May 31st for physical distancing and other measures. With our Season scheduled to begin on June 7th, we have no choice but to postpone opening day to a later date. This is NOT a cancellation of the entire Season.
Once we get clearance, we can be up and running in a matter of days.To our Season Pass holders.
You bought your passes in good faith and as a sign of our appreciation for your support, your Season passes will not only be valid for whatever amount of Racing we get in this Season, those same passes will also be valid for the 2021 Season.Thank you and stay safe.
East Coast Mini Stock Tour – “SEASON CANCELED” – The first major season cancelation came from the East Coast Mini Stock Tour. The decision was based off current COVID-19 regulations around social gatherings and border regulations between provinces. Read more here.
Petty International Raceway – “TRACK RENTALS OPEN” – Petty Raceway is considered a part of the Yellow Phase of New Brunswick’s re-opening plan but no timetable on when they might not be able to open for racing. Private track rentals have resumed.
“NO RACING IN MONTH OF MAY” – Petty Raceway announced this evening that there would be no racing in the month of May. The track is preparing with the hopes of being able to go racing this season.
Speedway 660 – “TRACK RENTALS BEGIN; PROPERTY CLOSED OTHERWISE” – Track rentals are resuming at Speedway 660 but a reminder to those on Facebook reminds that the rest of the property remains closed.
“SEASON OPENER POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE” – Speedway 660 is hopeful to get racing in at some point in 2020, but for now has postponed the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener on May 24th until further notice.
Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour – “ALL JUNE EVENTS CANCELED” – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour has canceled June events scheduled for Riverside Speedway, Scotia Speedworld and Petty International Raceway due to COVID-19. More info here.
“ALL MAY EVENTS CANCELED” – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour has canceled all May events (May 16th at Petty Raceway and May 30th at Scotia Speedworld).
Scotia Speedworld – “ALL JUNE EVENTS CANCELED” – Scotia Speedworld has canceled all June events, including the World Series of Monster Trucks and the June Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour race, due to COVID-19. More info here.
“ALL MAY EVENTS CANCELED” – Scotia Speedworld has canceled all events in the month of May, including the May 30th Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour race.
Speedway Miramichi (NB) – “SEASON OPENER POSTPONED; FOCUS SHIFTS TO JUNE 20TH” – Speedway Miramichi is hoping to get their season started on June 20th and has made changes to their schedule to reflect the fluid COVID-19 situation. Track rentals are also open for teams.
“STATUS QUO, BUT SCHEDULE CHANGES INEVITABLE” – While the North Shore track prepares for its 38th consecutive season, no schedule changes have been made, yet…
Eastbound Park (NL) – “MONTH OF JUNE POSTPONED” – Eastbound Park has postponed events in the month of June to a later date, including the World Series of Monster Trucks. An updated schedule is expected sometime in June. The track hopes to be in action during the month of July.
“MONTH OF MAY POSTPONED” – Eastbound Park is preparing events as normal for the month of June as May has been postponed, according to a Thursday Facebook post.

Eastbound Park will be postponing our May month activities to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We are monitoring the situation closely and look forward to seeing everyone trackside as soon as possible. Please note that June events are still being prepared as normal.
We would like to thank all our participants in their preparations for the 2020 race season and to those that have been loyal for the past six seasons.
Fans who purchased tickets for the NASCAR opening will have the option to use tickets to one of our rescheduled NASCAR events.
An update on our June activities will be presented after the Victoria Day weekend.

Oyster Bed Speedway (PE) – “MID JUNE” – The track made a post on April 29th that they are on hold “until at the very least mid-June.”
Valley Raceway (NS) – “SEASON POSTPONED” – The dirt track outside of Kingston, Nova Scotia postponed the 2020 season “for the unforeseeable future” on April 8th.
Atlantic Region Motor Sports Inc. (NS/Atlantic Motorsports Park) – “ALL EVENTS POSTPONED UP TO JUNE 1ST” – The sanctioning body for racing at Atlantic Motorsports Park outside of Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia has postponed or canceled all events in May as of March 25th. Their first racing event is scheduled for June 21st.
