Tim’s Corner Motorsports Announces iRacing Special Event All Star Showcase

(HALIFAX, NS – April 3rd, 2020) – Tim’s Corner Motorsports is excited to announce a one-off iRacing event that will spotlight some of the best simulated short track racers in Atlantic Canada along with some special guests. The TCM iRacing Special Event All Star Showcase will pit 30 winning iRacers against each other to fight for the checkered flag, trophy and some cash while providing entertainment for drivers and fans alike during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With how fluid the COVID-19 pandemic is, the event will take place on a date to be announced. The car and track combination for the event will be unveiled along with the date closer to the race. An online broadcast of the event will be available for the public to view. The field will be capped at a maximum of 30 cars with up to 27 TCM iRacing Special Event winners plus two drivers from a “race in” event and a Fan Vote. Fans can keep tabs on an updated entry list and event info by going to www.TimsCorner.ca/AllStarShowcase.

“iRacing has given those within the motorsports community a chance to still enjoy a form of their favorite sport even with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tim Terry of Tim’s Corner Motorsports. “We had several folks looking for a place to race, so we have been hosting races over the last week with strong car counts. While we are not running for any point championship, we wanted to give the drivers something to work towards and look forward to. We are hoping to see some marketing partners hop on board to support this All Star Showcase and give our drivers a chance to shine on a big stage before the racing season re-fires back up!”

Since the TCM iRacing Special Events began on March 23rd, seven races have been run with six drivers already locking themselves into the All Star Showcase. Ethan Miller (Kennetcook, NS) and 2018 McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 winner Ryan Messer (Harvey, NB) were winners on the opening night of racing. Four time eNASCAR Coca Cola iRacing Series winner Kevin King (San Diego, CA), 2008 Scotia Speedworld Hobby Stock Champion Mike Alexander (Cole Harbour, NS), 2019 Oyster Bed Speedway Bandolero champion Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) and 2019 Scotia Speedworld Lightning on the Hill 50 winner Matthew Barkhouse (Dartmouth, NS) have also punched their tickets into the big show with feature wins. Nearly 100 drivers have competed in at least one of the events.

The TCM iRacing Special Event races are tentatively scheduled a week in advance with an average of three races happening per week as governments urge everyone to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The events utilize different combinations of cars and tracks within the iRacing service, specializing in short tracks but also branching out to different disciplines. In upcoming scheduled events, the Super Late Models will take to the track on Sunday, April 5th at Irwindale Outer. Monday, April 6th will close the homestand at Irwindale Speedway with a Figure 8 Race.

Marketing opportunities for the TCM iRacing All Star Showcase are available by contacting Tim Terry. In addition, a lap leaderboard has been set up. Laps can be purchased for $2.50 per lap to help further boost the purse for the event.
