Busy Two Week Stretch to End Month of January in the Maritimes

Rules meetings, banquets and winter racing – oh my!

As is the case most years, January is the month where track and teams begin to wake up from a small down time between racing seasons and the holidays to begin pinning the throttle on their 2020 plans. This year, it seems like it has only been ramping up with three rules meetings and two winter racing events announced for Maritime oval and touring series.

Here’s a brief look at what is going on over the next two weeks around the region. Of course, some of these events are weather permitting and it is best to check with the sanctioning body hosting the event before you head to the venue.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 14TH

6pm – Scotia Speedworld Sportsman Rules Meeting 
7pm – Scotia Speedworld Thunder Rules Meeting

Venue: Quality Inn Halifax Airport; located behind the track on Sky Boulevard.

These meetings were postponed from the previous week due to a blast from Old Man Winter.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 18TH

2pm to 4pm – East Coast Mini Stock Tour Rules Meeting

Venue: Hampton Inn and Suites, Truro, Nova Scotia; 35 Legends Drive in Millbrook, Nova Scotia

This meeting is open to ALL Four Cylinder/Mini Stock teams as the Series gets a feel for interest in potentially expanding makes and models allowed to compete in 2020 and beyond.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 19TH

POSTPONED DUE TO FORECAST OF SNOW 1pm – Atlantic Modified Tour Annual General Meeting

Venue: Renous Recreation Center; 2 Young Lane, Renous, New Brunswick

All things Atlantic Modified Tour will be discussed and all teams are urged to attend to have their say ahead of the 2020 season.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22ND

8pm – TCM Shop Shop Season Season Premiere

Venue: TCM Facebook Page (@timscornerca)

The expected premiere date of the TCM Shop Stop Series of the year – and we have an exciting announcement to unveil as well. The first episode will feature a sit down with Travis and Chris Roma in their West Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia shop.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25th

Speedway Miramichi Snowmobile Drag Races

Venue: Speedway Miramichi; 85 McKinnon Road, Miramichi, New Brunswick

With the recent blast of winter on the North Shore, Speedway Miramichi is ready to host their first Snowmobile Drag Racing event of the year. Coming off a successful event in 2019, the track is expected to be a hive of activity on the 25th.

7pm – Speedway 660 Awards Banquet

Venue: Fredericton Inn; 1315 Regent Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick

One of the best season celebrations of the year, the teams, officials and fans of Speedway 660 will pack the Fredericton Inn to put a cap on their 2019 season by toasting their champions. The event will be hosted by Tim Terry of Tim’s Corner Motorsports.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 26TH

12pm – Atlantic Modified Tour Annual General Meeting

Venue: Renous Recreation Center; 2 Young Lane, Renous, New Brunswick

Postponed from January 19th due to the forecast of snow; all things Atlantic Modified Tour will be discussed and all teams are urged to attend to have their say ahead of the 2020 season.

1pm – Valley Raceway Winter Race

Venue: Valley Raceway; 877 Vault Road, Melvern Square, Nova Scotia

Announced in October, Valley Raceway announced they would be hosting a winter race on the Annapolis Valley dirt. It is a first for the track and is expected to be an event you will not want to miss!

TUESDAY, JANUARY 28TH

7:30pm – TCM Stock Car Shootout IV Round Four

Venue: Kartbahn Racing; 66 Otter Lake Court, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Interest has been high for the fourth of five rounds in the TCM Stock Car Shootout IV. Pat Kelly is the most recent winner in the Series after holding off Trevor Smith on January 6th. To reserve your driver spot, contact Tim Terry.
